Have you ever felt that you are not 'productive'? In 'the productivity project', Chris shares his productivity lessons after spending a year to achieve maximum productivity. Here is a thread on productivity.
Let's get started! 👇👇
1. Find your why
Why do you want to be productive? Why do you want to achieve the things in your mind? If you don't know the underlying 'why' you want to be productive, it is very hard to stay productive after your initial motivation fades. Find you why!
2. Priority
Not everything is of the same importance, you should figure out what is important and what is not, at the start of the day or work, so that you can have a great understanding of what truly important things you want to achieve for the day and not waste time on others!
3. The '3' rule
Write down the most 3 important things that you want to achieve tomorrow, at the end of today. Also do the same for the week. Set goals that are a bit challenging but not out of reach. This allows you to visualise your goals and achieve them.
4. Personalised your schedule & 'Golden time'
Figure out what schedule best suits you. Everyone is different, you may be more productive in the morning. If so spend your morning on heavy work, and easier work in the afternoon! You will trap yourself if you do the opposite.
Everyone have a certain time slot, 'golden time' that they feel extra energetic. Find that time slot for you, and use it wisely. Tackle the hardest or most important tasks of the day using your 'golden time'. This will ensure optimal performance!
5. Knowing that everyone 'procrastinate'
Everyone procrastinate and regularly fails at always being productive. We do not need to over blame ourselves when we procrastinate. Just find out why you procrastinate and try to tackle it step by step!
6. Internet - the productivity killer
Have you ever experience this? When you are really focused trying to do something, a notification goes off, and you start to chat with your friend and you struggle to stay focus again. Almost everyone experiences this!
The best way to solve this is to unplug yourself from the internet while trying to stay focus, disable your notifications, or just put your phone away! With these steps, no notifications will ever distract you from your tasks on hand!
7. Be productive, not busy
Productivity is not just about working more. Many may think that they are productive just by working long hours. However, busy does not equal to productive. It is not about how long you have do your things, but what you have accomplished.
8. Maintenance day
There are many daily tasks, such as mowing the lawn, washing your cloths, food prep, grocery shopping... Group all these 'easy tasks' into one or two days of the week! This allows your mind to be free from these easy yet hassle daily tasks everyday.
Pro tip: By grouping all these tasks together, you may spend a couple hours doing it, you can listen to audile books or podcasts during these maintenance time. This maintenance time then also becomes a self-learning time too!
9. Reduce or Cut the Unimportant
There are things that we spend a lot of time on, but are unimportant, such as constantly checking emails, messaging others without a purpose, and mindlessly scrolling through social media (but reading my thread is not included! lol)
Set a time limit, for example, 30 minutes of social media a day, or how many times you can check your social media per day. By doing this, you would be very surprise how much more time you can spare and how much time has been occupied by these unimportant tasks!
10. Clear Your Brain
Write down the to do things onto a to do list, either on your phone or physically. This allows you to clear capacity for the brain to do and think about important things! Your brain is for thinking/creating, not for storing a list of minor daily reminders!
11. Zoom out and 'hotspot'
Everyone have hotspot, which are things that they care about, such as, family, friends, work, leisure...Every now and then, zoom out! See how much time you are spent on each 'hotspot', get a holistic view of the time you spent on each hotspot!
12. Create Space
Have you ever experienced a random but great idea fly through your mind? That happens because our brain do not stop working! It is the creative side of our brain thinking. Day dreaming stimulate this part of the brain if you spend some time to relax!
Spend some time exercising, reading, listening to music, praying and leisure, so that your brain will have more time to 'day dream' and come up with more random but great ideas! Such ideas do not come up while scrolling the phone, put your phone down and enjoy the world!
13. The 20 second rule
If you cannot control yourself from a distraction, try the 20 second rule! This means putting the distraction at least 20 seconds away from your reach. This will greatly help you overcome your distraction and focus more!
14. Don't multi-task
Focus on one thing at a time! Research have shown that multitasking can actually hinders your productivity because you need time to get back into the zone of doing A after jumping from B. Focus on a thing and move on when you finish!
Trying to do only one thing at a time can be very hard! But give it sometime, fight the distraction, and you will eventually master the ability to focus regardless of the task on hand!
15. Take care of your body
This goes without saying, sleep well, eat well, drink well, and exercise often! All these will keep your body in a great shape and allow you to be productive. Especially don't skip sleep!
16. Enjoy the journey
A lot of times, you may felt that you are wasting time, and are underachieving. Just know that it is ok! Everyone goes through ups and downs and no one is always productive.
Relax, focus on the positive experience, be grateful, reward yourself, create an accomplishment list, and believe you will be a better self overtime! Productivity is always only a part of our life, and there are many other positives things too!
Thank you for reading this thread, I hope you enjoyed the thread and learnt a thing or two about productivity. If you like the thread, I would really appreciate a retweet and like! Also please follow me @JoshuaTai0427, for more future content like this! Thank you very much!

Peter Lynch is one of the greatest investors of all time. During his 13 years of running the Magellan Fund, his annualised return was 29.2%, more than 2x the S&P 500's return. This thread go through Peter Lynch's key lessons for all investors.
Let's get started!👇👇
1. Know what you own
The single most important thing in investing is know what you own. Peter famously said that you should be able to explain your stock holding in 2 minutes or less to a 10 year old kid. If you don't know what you own, don't buy it.
When people don't know about the stock, and the stock goes down, people don't know what to do about it (Peter famously said that these investors may flip a coin to decide whether they should sell). Don't be that guy who flips the coin.
The book, ‘Good to Great’, details what excel a company from ‘good’ to ‘great’ and what separates a ‘good to great’ company from a good one. Here is a thread on ‘Good to Great’ and the characteristics of the companies that leaped from ‘good to great’
Let’s get started 👇👇
1. Level 5 Leadership
All good to great companies have level 5 leaders. Level 5 leaders are humble, caring, unself-centered and passionate. Level 5 leaders are also persistent, with a strong will power, and an ambition to build a great company (and not a great self!).
A level 5 leader praises others during upturns and reflect on themselves during downturns (not blaming others!)
Have you ever wondered why $TCEHY’s ‘WeChat’ is called a ‘Super App’? What are some main WeChat functions are there? What can WeChat do? Here is a thread on the main features of the powerful, WeChat, the origin of all ‘Super Apps’.
Let’s get started! 👇👇
1. Chat
Like all other communication apps, WeChat allows people to message and chat with others similar to $FB’s messenger, Instagram, WhatsApp, and Telegram. WeChat also allows people to make calls and video calls, fulfilling all communication needs.
2. Group Chat
WeChat’s group chat is regularly used to connect with people, who may or may not be your WeChat friend but has a common interest with you. For example, WeChat group chat is commonly used between Chinese international students to meet new friends.
This comprehensive thread will be my last thread on $JD where I include everything you need to know about $JD, all of my findings on $JD and all $JD's subsidiaries; logistics, health, technology and property.
Let's get started 👇👇
1. $JD Founder – Richard Liu
Richard Liu, $JD’s founder and CEO, believes that $JD must provide superior customer experience, optimize costs, and increase operational efficiency in order to be successful in Chinese e-commerce.
1.1 Richard has made the two most important decisions for $JD; (1) $JD is never going to sell fake products and (2) $JD is going to have their own $JD logistics team. Both decisions are very controversial at the time but are later proven to be very correct.
Zhang Lei, the founder of Hillhouse capital, is one of the best investors in China. Hillhouse has started with 20 million AUM in 2005 and has quickly grown to 30 billion in 2017. Here are some of the lessons that I have learnt from ‘Value’, by Zhang Lei. 👇
1. Investing is not simply about crunching numbers or logical reasoning. As an investor, you should conduct ‘real life research’ to experience the ‘real world’. Such experience will teach you what the consumers really wants and what kind of services are truly wanted.
2. The best analysis is done through the persistence of ‘first principle thinking’ rather than valuation, pricing, or portfolio theories. Be sure to always go back to the basics and asks fundamental questions when you are analysing a company.
A thread on some of my thoughts on 'China Political Risks' and why I think it may be overblown.
Because of the crackdown of $DIDI and previously on Ant financials of $BABA, people has been worrying about more Chinese crackdowns on Chinese big tech companies.
I personally believes that China is not going to just crackdown their biggest and best tech companies for no reason. I am of this opinion because China wants to keep growing (and maybe become the 'top' country in the world either intentionally or not)
