The only way I can square this truly bizarre take from her is that she appears to be looking at Marxism as purely descriptive of certain realities yet she’s arguing with people who oppose some of the clearly PREscriptive elements of Marxism for how to organize society.
What blows me away is that a highly educated person like KSP would actually not recognize the disconnect here. It’s what leads people to believe these people are calculating, disingenuous liars. But I think the more likely scenario is...
...academics who spend decades in an academic bubble start to really think differently. I don’t think they grapple with the real-world implications of their theories. To them it’s just a playground of lenses and analytical tools for describing reality...
...and what they miss are the prescriptions for society that people then infer from their theories. And they never have to interact with, or deal with the implications. They are sheltered from the real world, and sheltered from many of the logical conclusions of their theories
All that said, as a Christian I refuse to assign nefarious motives to these folks, as infuriating as they can be to me sometimes. I trust God will sort all this out in the end. I’m sure the last question on our minds when we see Jesus face to face will be “who was right?”
