“Election officials, the entire electoral system withstood unrelenting political attacks, physical threats, intimidation & pressure.
“They did so w/unyielding courage & faith in our democracy.
“With recount after recount…
“court case after court case, the 2020 election was the most scrutinized election ever in American history.
“Challenge after challenge brought to local, state & election officials, state legislatures, state & federal courts, even to the United States Supreme Court
“- not once but twice.
“More than 80 judges including those appointed by my predecessor heard the arguments.
“In every case, neither cause nor evidence was found to undermine the national achievement of administering the historic election in the face of such extraordinary
“challenges.
“Audits & recounts were conducted in AZ, WI; in GA it was recounted three times.
“It’s clear. For those who challenge the results & question the integrity of the election, no other election has ever been held under such scrutiny & such high standards.
“The big lie is just that, a big lie.”
“In America, if you lose, you accept the results, you follow the Constitution, you try again. You don’t call facts fake & then try to bring down the American Experiment just because you’re unhappy.
“That’s not statesmanship, that’s selfishness. That’s not democracy, it’s the denial of the right to vote. It suppresses. It subjugates. The denial of full & free & fair elections is the most un-American thing any of us can imagine. The most undemocratic, the most unpatriotic,
“yet sadly not unprecedented. From denying enslaved people full citizenship until the 13th, 14th & 15th Amendments after the Civil War. To denying women the right to vote until the 19th Amendment 100 years ago. To poll taxes & literacy tests & the Ku Klux Klan
“campaigns of violence & terror that lasted into the 50s & 60s. To the Supreme Court decision in 2013 & then again just 2 weeks ago - a decision that weakened the landmark voting rights act. To the willful election attacks in 2020, & then
“ to a whole other level of threat, the violence & the deadly insurrection on the Capitol on January 6th.…
“Time & again, we’ve weathered threats to the right to vote & each time we found a way to overcome. And that’s what we must do today.
“It starts with continuing the fight to pass HR1, the #ForThePeopleAct.
“Last month, Republicans opposed even debating, even considering the For the People Act. Senate Democrats stood united to protect our democracy & the sanctity to vote.
I’d like Democrat Congress Representatives to stop using these as their main talking points. In fact very few people oppose ID requirements, if the types of ID allowed are expanded.
These bills target:

early voting,

@BerniceKing the power of local officials to oversee elections,

“Just days after @POTUS Biden called Pres Putin… & demanded that he act to shut down ransomware grps… attacking American targets, the biggest of them has gone off-line.”
“The group, called REvil, short for ‘Ransomware evil,’ is believed responsible for the attack that brought
“down one of America’s largest beef producers, JBS, & it took credit for a hack that affected thousands of businesses around the world over the July 4 holiday. On Fri, describing his ultimatum to the Russian president, Mr. Biden said ‘we expect them to act,’ &
“At least 50 House Dems had plans to travel to Washington later today…. The exodus would deny Republicans the required ⅔ attendance level to conduct business, calling into doubt whether plans to take up the voting legislation this week could proceed.”
After All-Night Hearing, TX GOP Advance Voting Measure
A GOP-backed bill to overhaul the state’s voting system cleared a key House committee in the legislature on Sunday morning after nearly 24 hrs of testimony.
“The vote… adheres to Gov Greg Abbott’s timetable for swift action…. A vote by the full House on the measure, which voting rights groups call 1 of the most restrictive in the nation, is expected this wk. All 9 Republicans on the cmte supported the bill, the 5 Dems voted against
“Hundreds of Texans flocked to the Capitol over the weekend for the committee hearings on voting bills being pushed by Republicans, part of a national effort by the party to impose new restrictions on state election systems. Republicans say the restructuring is necessary
