BREAKING: 1/the @WatchChad campaign, fmr. Val Verde County Judge Laura Allen, and Fmr. ICE Agent Victor Avila tell @TexasScorecard that citizens and local officials in Kinney County-frustrated with lack of border security-are taking action themselves.
2/Solution being pursued in Kinney is hiring private security and building towers every quarter mile.
3/“Val Verde Co just [building] a new processing tent to start arresting illegals. That should be up and running in a week or so,” Avila told @TexasScorecard
4/“Nothing has changed since Abbott did his announcement, however, there is a surge of state police that is helping border patrol. No impact on the illegals coming in other than detecting more human smuggling ventures, vehicle pursuits within the state etc,” Avila.
5/“The situation in our county has been quite crazy. We’ve had hundreds crossing daily turning themselves in, multiple car chases with fatalities and lots that have gotten away,” Allen told @TexasScorecard
6/“Since Abbott’s announcements all we’ve seen is clearing for a chainlink fence that we feel is completely in effective. We’ve also seen more out of state troopers but mostly only on the highways. Landowners are still having lots of trespassing and damages,” Allen.
7/“Not much has changed since his announcement because I don’t think the word has gotten out across the border. Our Border Patrol is overwhelmed. The border counties are overwhelmed also. Many of these border towns don’t have the manpower to handle this influx,” Gary Brugman.
8/“The state of Texas is hiring 30 judges from across the state to assist in the processing of this cases via zoom. It’s a big mess,” Brugman.
9/Brugman is a former border patrol agent. “Our border patrol are patrol agents. They have been turned into corrections officers. It’s not their jobs to do what they’re doing,” he told @TexasScorecard.
