The fundamental problem with the booming Creator Economy:

A THREAD
#threadsbyAP
“The Creator Economy is booming” - you must have heard this often in recent times! And it is ABSOLUTELY TRUE!
The entire eco-system is growing… and at a pace so fast that things are changing almost every few days!
Creators were earlier reliant & focused on One social media platform! A YouTuber didn’t spend too much effort on Instagram for example … and vice versa!

Today this is completely different! The audience is everywhere & so is the Creator.
Social media platforms themselves have evolved enormously! They are using Data & AI to understand users better.. and constantly tweaking, adding & enhancing their features!

It was almost shocking that YouTube now has “Shorts” to take on the likes of Instagram reels, etc.
More & more brands are now engaging with Creators!
So much so that there are guidelines for this now!
The digital world has grown so much that Creators have become an important part of any brand’s marketing plans!
Creator earnings were earlier restricted to brand deals predominantly (& platform revenue) … There are more avenues now!
Talent management agencies were just a handful earlier, this space has evolved significantly too.

While they were restricted to the big creators, they now focus on micro & nano creators too.
Creators have built strong distribution channels & made decent money in the process!

Now they are trying their hand at exploring other avenues.
Creators are turning Entrepreneurs & Angel Investors. There is a massive upgrade happening in terms of how Creators are thinking.
Few creators-turned-entrepreneurs:
@BeerBicepsGuy
@MasoomMinawala
@kabitaskitchen
@madan3
Few creators-turned-Angel investors:
@thetanmay
@appurv_gupta
@rajshamani
Something @join2manish says often - “Content Creation is now a FULL-TIME career”.
More & more people are taking it up.
Competition is now more fierce than ever! New creators have a very difficult path ahead!

Standing out from the crowd while delivering great quality has become the most basic requirement for Creator to succeed.
With limited attention-spans, the audience mindset is now ruthless. You have to impress them in a matter of seconds, else they will move on to the next piece of content from the next creator.
Almost every career option requires you to undergo certain training or qualification. There are programs to learn new skills, improve & grow before taking a full-fledged plunge.
However, there is NO SUCH solution in the creator world! You have to figure things out along the way….. and the odds are stacked heavily against you.
Yes there are some courses in bits-&-pieces. But no one platform or mentorship to teach / train a person in the ART of Content Creation!
There is also a Unique challenge in the Creator Economy - there is no one-size-fits-all strategy!
Each creator is a distinct human being with a unique personality.. & that personality is translated to the camera in a certain way.

What works for one, doesn’t for another!
Talent managers/agencies make money off of Creators! If Creators didn’t exist, neither would they!

But even they haven’t been able to contribute to a Creator beyond monetisation! There’s no mentorship / grooming from their end that can help a small creator evolve into a BIG one.
And this I believe is currently the biggest problem in the Creator Economy!
The big creators are getting bigger, while it is the most difficult time for a new creator to make a mark!
How can an aspiring creator get a fair chance at success?
The Solution: A CREATOR ACADEMY which trains, mentors, grooms & provides the right guidance for their Content Creation journey.
I am involved with a small group of people who are working on this solution!
Hopefully it will become a reality soon!

END!

He featured in the TIME Magazine’s “100 Most Influential People of 2018” list.

A (former) Sports marketeer’s perspective:

A THREAD

Firstly, WHAT HAPPENED?
At one of the press conferences of the UEFA EURO football event, the legendary Cristiano Ronaldo removed bottles of Coke placed on the table & urged people to drink water instead.

(2/n)
Why is it a big deal?
This is a first time something like this has happened in a sports event of this magnitude.. where a player has gone right up against an event sponsor. Unsurprisingly, the video went viral.

6 money mistakes I made in my 20s which resulted in huge loss of time, opportunity & wealth:
A THREAD

#threadsbyAP
1. NOT INVESTING: From childhood I was taught the importance of saving! My parents came from humble beginnings, this is all they knew about personal finance!
So I saved a decent %, but I had no idea about investing. The money was just sitting in savings ac / deposits for years
2. LIFE INSURANCE: I believed Life Insurance is a lucrative form of investment. An entire generation has grown up thinking this is right... many still do.
