(🔐) BREAKING NEWS: Trump Has Found a Way to Circumvent His Twitter Ban—and Twitter Has Done Nothing About It

1/ Those of you who've followed this feed for years know that I first advocated for Trump being banned from Twitter in 2017. Not because I detested him—though I did—but because he was using the site to commit crimes (which I enumerated at the time) as well as violating other ToS.

2/ I was so linked to the proposal that Twitter ban Trump years before it finally did that I was contacted by the Washington Post for an interview on the subject hours after the ban occurred. I never imagined Twitter would let Trump evade the ban—and do so openly and notoriously.

3/ Back in 2017, Trump was committing crimes on Twitter: obstruction, witness tampering, and more. By 2020, Trump was using Twitter to spread disinformation that arguably killed hundreds of thousands of people. Now that it's 2021, Trump using Twitter means fomenting insurrection.

4/ Trump is, as we know, a rapist and a career criminal and the author of untold COVID-19 deaths. He is now, too, a "domestic terror leader" under the conventional definition of those words. His access to social media to commit crimes is now an urgent matter of national security.

5/ So when a plot by Donald Trump to *circumvent* his Twitter ban is found, it's national news. It's not just a social media curiosity—it's a matter of national security.

Fortunately Trump's plot has been caught in its early days, and can still be stopped ifTwitter acts quickly.

6/ What I didn't put in the article (because it can't be independently substantiated beyond self-reporting) is that Americans have in large numbers been reporting Trump's sock-puppet account for days now. But there's been no media coverage and no action by Twitter. That's not OK.

7/ Either the man is a clear and present danger to America or he isn't. Either he's committed crimes via Twitter or he hasn't. Either he's a Terms of Service violator or not. There's no middle ground. There's no banning Trump "just for the optics." He must be *actually* banned.

8/ Twitter doesn't allow ban evasion via sock-puppetry. And there's no carve-out for a fake billionaire who is nevertheless rich enough to hire a real person to tweet on his behalf full-time. There's simply no disputing that Trump is evading his Twitter ban and that it must stop.
