Monsoon session of Parliament begins today, and out of about 400 journalists, only 60 are allowed. Restrictions continue despite the honourable Lok Sabha speaker’s public announcement that all permanent passes will be renewed.
We still hope with respect to the chair that the promise will be fulfilled in letter and spirit. We are deeply concerned about the manner in which the media is being sidelined. This has never happened in the history of independent India.
The media is an intergal part of parliamentary democracy. @rashtrapatibhvn @VPSecretariat @loksabhaspeaker @PressCouncil_IN @IndEditorsGuild
Press Club of India has written to leaders of all political parties in both the houses of parliament. We appeal to all concerned including the honorable chairman of the Rajya Sabha and speaker of the Lok Sabha to save parliamentry democracy and allow all media as usual.
