1/x #THREAD After 17 months of investigation upon my complaints about police mistreatment during protest operation during Lunar New Year 2020 to the Complaints of Police Office (CAPO), a letter of reply finally arrived at my doorstep today.
2/x Throwback to Lunar New Year 2020 where I was groped by a masked police officer on my breast, who without showing his identification, and pepper sprayed on the face when I was covering #HongKongProtests . This is a photo of me receiving medical care at Mong Kok Station.
3/x The results of investigation was out - “not pursuable” for allegations on “squeezing my breast” and “displaying warrant card” plus “unsubstantiated” for “failing to give reasons/warnings before spraying pepper spray”.
Physical touch was unavoidable during chaotic scene like #HongKongProtests but this case has clearly become an example of showing how female loses power in addressing issues like sexual harassment in the face of authority. Justice is denied.
Let alone the actions deployed by the police towards journalists - where they go UNprotected for the duties they carry out. It is NOT the first time for journalists to be pushed and pepper sprayed by the force. No official apologies were given.
It’s often a rule for journalists not to become the news. I decided to speak out this time as I feel for women who feel powerless to voice at sexual harassment, and not to mention people in Hong Kong who has lost hope in the system.
7/7 While the matter will never be settled, my sincere thanks to people who have helped me and supported me all the way through the journey. Speaking the truth is particularly important yet difficult at times when messages could be easily lost in the chatter. But keep going!

Walked for 3 mins from the end of the line to the front where the altar was set up to pay tribute to Chow. Hundreds queuing up with white flowers and candles. A moment of silence at 20:09 when Chow was certified dead 4 months ago in the morning. #HongKongProtests
#JUSTIN: Mins after moment of silence, police suddenly advanced to make containment to stop and search the crowd. The crowd included the young and old, reporters, first aiders and even residents nearby was in it. Police later contained the other side too. #HongKongProtests
#NOW: 2.5 hours later and we’re still inside the containment waiting for search. We were told to be cooperating w the force but officers from time to time yelled at the crowd and took mugshots. One even said “I’ll arrest you if you keep on opening ur umbrella.” #HongKongProtests
