Oof. So sounds like we're going to have to have our sewer line dug out and replaced, and in the process get rid of my favorite tree (which has betrayed me by sending roots into the sewer line, among other issues with the pipe).

Oh, I definitely can't, both in the sense that it's not that type of tree and in that I definitely don't have the means... someone could perhaps weave a basket out of it, but I don't need a basket.

To be very clear, and I'm sure that was kindly meant, but me being wistful about a tree isn't a problem that I need strange men on the internet to solve for me.

I definitely understand the impulse! My gut reaction, when I perceive an emotion in myself or someone else, is to think, "Gross. What practical action could I take that would make this feeling no longer exist?"

But apparently what I actually need is space to feel things.

Also to be clear I do care about the tree but the 100 year old plumbing replacement is the bigger problem here.

And to be even more clear: this isn't my childhood swing tree or one with my initials in it or something. My attachment to it is based on symbolism at a bad point in my life within the last few years.

And specifically the way it was a "dead" tree that bounced back and flourished. Which I guess now I know where it found the strength to do that, so maybe it's less inspiring now.
