I recently completed a year (of working remotely!) at @gojektech, and thought of doing some reflection. Penning down my learnings as a Program Manager (PgM), at this hyperlocal southeast asian growth company/startup.

#ReflectionThreads are back - here you go 🥳
#Thread 👇
1/n Understanding the SEA super app market, business and competition has been of great value. Especially being able to provide user feedback for the SG app has been the cherry on the cake. It strengthened my 'customer centric mindset' and helped to develop empathy for drivers.
2/n Immense opportunities for growth : I could grow & lead programs / initiatives not only in the domain of Data & Engineering, but also in the field of Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) with support & sponsorship of great leaders.
3/n The fast changes & pivots across the company challenged me to ensure that program delivery is on track by revising scope, prioritisation & aligning with key stakeholders every few months.
4/n Small company => Less hierarchy => Opportunities to work closer with company leadership + Opportunities to provide feedback / suggestions in the product & company.
5/n Given that PgM is a relatively new function (<2 years), I got opportunities to educate stakeholders and teams regarding what PgM is, what we do as PgMs at Gojek and also contribute in shaping up the PgM function :)
6/n The scale of programs I worked on gave me organisation wide visibility and opportunities to collaborate with data, product, research & business teams & leadership.
7/n My core work has been with the data org - so running & scaling programs by collaborating with data warehouse, data analysts/scientists, heads of data, data engineering teams provided me with a bird's eye view on the importance & critical role of data teams within a company.
8/n This also means understanding users and building a customer focussed thinking approach - when the data teams build internal tools & platforms for the rest of the company. This gave me a chance to solve problems for scale, reach, communication and adoption.
9/n Securing buy-ins and aligning stakeholders has been a challenging but interesting process. And once that's done - establishing accountability is the most interesting piece. It helped me to drive smoother cross functional collaboration between 40+ stakeholders in a program.
10/n Changing culture, changing mindsets take time - I could play a small role in this by using some change management techniques & enablement through education, from both bottom-up & top-down approach and yield positive results.
11/n Creating & setting up processes and artefacts for scale - is a huge benefit for sustainability of programs in such a fast moving environment, which I could achieve using tools like asana, confluence, miro and more.
12/n My colleagues are super awesome people to work with. They come from various multinational companies, countries & backgrounds - bringing diversity of culture & unique perspectives on the table. They inspire me to do better every single day.
13/n On the D&I front, I launched initiatives around Diversity, Equity, Inclusion awareness, education, allyship, unconscious biases and more - by understanding the needs internally (through robust discovery) and learning from industry's leading technology companies / leaders.
14/n Entrepreneurial opportunities: I started the very first Employee Resource Group (ERG) - women@gojek and set the foundation by defining key pillars & recruiting a fantastic core team. We're a 250+ strong community, pulling off multiple collabs internally and externally.
That's it, folks!😃

With the latest developments & changes coming by - I can't wait to continue taking on more adventures during my continued ride🚗 @gojektech :)
@gojektech If you have any questions related to work culture & problems to solve at Gojek, feel free to reach out.

I've been helping few friends/connections finding a new job in past few months and having changed a job myself before 3 months, I thought of jotting down my suggestions on #jobhunting. Here are 10 points that helped me immensely. #ReflectionThreads #Thread 👇
1/ Remember if you apply to 100 roles, you will receive a reply from 15 places, interviews from probably 5 and if you're lucky - then an offer from 2-3 places. So, #DoNotGiveUp - and APPLY at as many places as you can.
2/ You don't need to check EVERY criteria from list. As long as you're meeting 60% of the list, give it a shot! You never know which of your skill sets can compensate for the missing ones or sometimes the role CAN be changed just to suit your profile better. #NothingIsImpossible

Sunsetting programs (/products /projects) is quite normal in today's fast growing companies. Here're my #ReflectionThreads on top five things to keep in mind, while sunseting a program (can be applied to 'transitioning a program' as well to an extent).
#Thread👇
Context - Various reasons to sunset a program could be:

- Change in strategy / vision / priority
- Lack of resources / budget
- Streamlining redundancies
- Unsatisfactory results
- Conflict b/w key stakeholders

... and more
1/ Don't get 'married' to a program (happens esp if it's your brainchild). Overthinking can disturb you, and will often make you take biased actions. Rather, think practically. Best to brainstorm ideas with an outsider who can see both sides of a coin.

1/ Next up in #ReflectionThreads : Throwing some light on ‘Developer Relations’ (DevRel) as a function.

I'll summarize some experiences from
- My work at a product MNC
- My research + prep work for product startup/s interviews

Read below 👇🏻

#DeveloperRelations #Thread
2/ DevRel is useful for any company which has a tech product and is looking for increasing their developer base. Needless to say, the framework mentioned below would be applicable (at a high level) for various other (non-tech) products as well.
3/ Why DevRel? 🤔
- Engage with a unique audience : Developers
- Reach devs@scale (1:few:many)
- Help devs make *meaningful* solutions
- Receive critical product feedback

First in #ReflectionThreads: What are the dos and don'ts of Program Management?

Sharing some best practices that I learned, while running and leading programs for Google in India & Southeast Asia. Read below.👇
#ProgramManagement #Thread
1/ #Disclaimer: Program Management is a BROAD domain. The definition varies from a company to company, function to function. This thread might help address it from a tech/product company’s pov.
2/ #ContextSetting: Some examples of programs I worked on include - CS edu program for students, diversity programs for women in tech, accelerators for gaming and AI startups, AI/ML skilling programs. Also, each of them aligns with tech product/s at some point in time.
