Want to improve your website’s SEO score and ranking?

Check out my tips in this thread 👇
Did you know that 93% of internet experiences start with a search?

Did you also know that the top search result has a 33% chance of getting clicked?

The top three results get roughly 75% of all clicks!
Getting to the top can be daunting and challenging if you aren’t using the right approach

Use these tips to increase your odds of ranking your website and getting that top 3 placement
Pay attention to your page headings and content

Decide which keywords you want to target and tune your pages to target those keywords
Don’t repeat the keywords too often (keyword stuffing hasn’t worked in years) but make sure that your headings and content make it clear what the page is about

An SEO plugin can help you tune your content for a specific keyword
Improve your page load speed

Don’t chase performance scores and sacrifice features, but make sure that your website loads quickly and that visitors don’t leave due to poor performance

High bounce rates can impact your SEO score
Include images and other rich content in order to improve the readability and stickiness of your content

Make your pages and content detailed and engaging so that your visitor stays on the site and shares it
Tune your meta descriptions, title, and social sharing images for better click-through rates

Again, SEO plugins can help with this, or you can use this website to check your metas and adjust them for better results:

Use descriptive and meaningful page URLs

Don’t use cryptic page names and URLs

Use names that are descriptive and that match the keyword you are targeting

Use the - symbol to separate words
Include schemas to help search engines understand your content better

I often use the Reviews and FAQ schemas in order to help my websites and pages rank

If you want to learn more about schemas, check out this website:

Write content that attracts natural backlinks, but also seek opportunities to promote your content

You can perform outreach or use services like HARO to get backlinks

Without backlinks, you will have a real hard time ranking
Share your content on social media, but also make it easy to share on social media directly from the website or article

While this doesn’t give you a strong ranking boost, it can help
Make sure that your website is responsive

It’s 2021, having a website that isn’t responsive is no longer acceptable and will lead to high bounce rates and user dissatisfaction

If you are learning (or planning to learn) WordPress, you should avoid making these mistakes 😱

Not configuring automatic backups

Automatic backups will save you if things go sideways

All great hosting providers include backups for free, but if you don't have this option, make sure that you set up and configure a plugin like Duplicator (recommended) or UpdraftPlus
Buying bloated themes

Stick to efficient and fast themes

I recommend GeneratePress, Hello Elementor (for Elementor sites), and OceanWP

Other themes will contain a ton of plugins and inefficient code

One of the biggest SEO lessons I learned the hard way:
Targetting the wrong search keywords

Here is what I learned 👇
What are search keywords?

A search keyword is a word or set of words a user enters when searching on Google or another search website.
When I was starting out, I did what most people would do

I thought about what my clients would be searching for and found the search keyword with the highest search volume

In my case, the keyword was Calgary web design Image

Top 5 mistakes I made as a WordPress freelancer and how to avoid them 👇

Not standardizing my tools for new website builds

Pick a set of tools and learn them inside and out.

For example, use the same themes, builders, and processes to cut down on costs and build duration.

Asking clients to buy their own hosting instead of managing it for them.

This is a great income stream for agencies.

Pick a good hosting company that you can partner with as an affiliate and resell hosting.

Wow, so close to 10k Twitter friends

Unbelievable 🤩

I had no idea that when I started tweeting last year that I would ever reach 10k

Here are some tips if you want to get there 👇
When you're starting out, getting traction is hard

Pick a niche and stick to it

Find big accounts in that niche and interact with them

This will increase your visibility and get you initial followers
Share stuff that you know or that you are learning (related to your niche)

You don't have to be an expert

Tweeting what you are learning is also a great way to grow

I have built my agency by launching and maintaining WordPress websites

Here is a thread with 🔟 most common WordPress questions answered

Is WordPress free?

WordPress is an open-source project. It's free to download, modify, and use. You will need a hosting account to launch your own WordPress site.

WordPress .com is different. It's a paid subscription-based product for blogging and building websites (like Wix)
Do I need to know PHP to work with WordPress?

Not unless you are planning to create your own themes and plugins. PHP is also useful for troubleshooting WordPress.

You won't need it in order to create and launch websites however.
