How I walk into a retail store and walk out with $500 in profit

Over and over and over

Anytime of year

/mega thread
First things first:

You have a unique way of looking at things.

You can find things few others can.

This is your advantage.

Exploit it!
Attitude is important.

You need to be humble.

You don't know 1% of anything. If you think you know it all, you will never find profitable items.

Your biggest enemy is yourself.

Come to terms with this.
Curiosity is the evidence of your humility.

You don't know anything, so you will explore everything.

You will look for interesting combinations, new ideas, and different approaches.
Ray Dalio said:

"Solve puzzles, get gems."

Just like a game, you solve problems and get gems. You can then use those gems (money) to level up in different areas, play the game better, and win bigger.
Research is your friend.

Get a cup of coffee. Go to a retail store at open.

Get relaxed - this is your playground.

Explore the newly stocked shelves. Look at brands and products and follow your curiosity.

Remember to keep an open mind.
Employees have just shown up to work, and they are not ready to hit the grind yet. It's early.

Talk to them, learn their names, make friends.

They will tell you things.

Tell them you are a reseller (not at Target though).

Find out what shopper are looking for, what is on sale
Most of these people are BORED.

Be a good conversationalist and entertain them.

Find out what interests them.

To become a master at this, you only need to read How To Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie.
Have your smartphone at the ready.

Use these tools:

-Keepa
-Google
-Scoutify
-Brickeseek

Set Keepa alerts in the aisle.

Use Brickseek to make shopping lists for other stores.
YOU ARE A MASTER TREND HUNTER

You can predict new trends by studying old trends.

What is popular from last year?

-Series
-Brands
-Characters

Read forums. What are customers and collectors excited about? What did they like about the last trendy product?
Everything repeats often.

Movies get rebooted. Sequels are made. Products come out with new versions with added features.

There is nothing new under the sun.

Understand this.
People flip so many things:

Toys
Clothes
Furniture
Electronics
Appliances

Explore what other people are doing. What skills can you combine to make a new niche?

What is abundant in your region that is rare someplace else?

Exploit your advantages.
You must dedicate hours per week to research.

Don't just mindlessly scan things - do word searches on eBay and Amazon.

Follow rabbit trails and find new opportunity.

Keep a swipe file of the interesting things you find.
The best asset for research is to keep going.

Your knowledge compounds until you become a walking, flipping encyclopedia.

In your down time, look up old products on Keepa and Amazon.

Search different types of items and sort from High Price to Low Price. See what makes $$$
Find items on Amazon that are refreshed every year.

If the old version performed well, the new version probably will too.

Keep exploring until you are sick, then explore more.

The trends will begin to materialize in front of your eyes.

Products in stores will pop out to you.
Things that tend to do well:

-Bright neon green
-Gruesome and macabre
-Limited edition or release
Ask other shoppers what they like. You can do live market research in the aisle.

"Oh hey, is that new?"

"Oh wow, what is that?"

People love to talk about their interests and new things.

EXPLOIT THIS
Last year, I was buying a ton of Rescue Riders Dragons.

My kids said "Hey dad, why don't you ever buy Aggro?"

Never seen it.

Turns out, it was on the back of the package of every other dragon.

If I had looked, I would have seen it right on the box - a dragon I've never seen.
It was small, it was cute, it was bright red - and my kids loved the character.

I knew that small, cute, colorful characters usually perform well.

So I told @PFPResellers to be on the lookout for Aggro.
Two weeks later, a member in another state found one at Target for $10.

First to market and sold for $50+.

Members COOKED Aggro on eBay and Amazon.

They disappeared from stores, but still sell for premiums today.
Curiosity + Experimentation is your very best friend.

Sell hot products to keep cash flowing and find new places to explore.

"But what if I want to grow even faster?"
You're in luck.

There are a few spots left in July for Oliver Teaches Arbitrage.

These principles are a small fraction of what you will learn in your quest to become a Master Reseller.
You learn:

-How to structure your arbitrage business
-How to find products in retail (even without lockdowns)
-How to do 100% online arbitrage without ever touching product (even from another country)
-Source from exclusive sites on auto-pilot that other resellers can't access
What have past students said?
This is not a cheap program!

You will learn how to go from $0-100K / year in income in a very short time with me as your personal coach.

If this sounds like the opportunity for you, please fill out the form below and I will be in touch.

Reseller pro tip:

“Pricing and the Buy Box”

/thread
You can use Keepa to see which seller has the Buy Box on an Amazon listing and for what % of the time.

Keepa (chart) -> Data -> Buy Box Stats

Why is this important?
For some items, Amazon NEVER shares the Buy Box.

If you’re buying at a low price and expect to sell through by matching Amazon price, it won’t happen.

Knowing this upfront, you can manage your risk by looking at Amazon OOS % to determine whether it’s still a good flip.

Confession time:

I haven’t been buying / selling pools, chlorine, or PS5s.

I never cashed in on potato heads or banned books.

You might think it’s crazy, but this is why (thread 👇🏻)
1. Risk

Hot items bring attention.

A young guy in the reselling community just got killed selling a PS5.

Pools have to ship freight and can arrive damaged.

Chlorine carries hazmat concerns.

Buyers scam you for selling sports cards.
Everything carries some inherent risk, but I like to keep it as low as possible.

You’re not lying awake at night wondering if something is going to go catastrophically wrong when you sell toys, topicals, and grocery.

8 simple things you can do NOW to guarantee your arbitrage business fails.

/ thread
1. Buy based on speculation.

Don't ever use data. If you think it will be profitable, that is all the proof you need.

Don't worry. It will sell.
2. Keep track of purchases in your head.

Do not record any purchases or sales anywhere outside of your own brain. This is a waste of time.

Spreadsheets are for losers.
