Books have played a valuable part in my scientific career. I ventured into biological research in the final year of high school on a project that was inspired by Phantom in the Brain by Vilayanur Ramachandran. The next book to make a significant impact on my scientific career 1/5
was the emperor of all maladies by @DrSidMukherjee. It is a book that is a must read for any freshman biology bachelor student. It shaped my interest in cancer biology, and particularly translational research in hindsight. it literally set me on my path up to a PhD. 2/5
Another book that I read around the same time in college that re-enforced the need for an ethical compass while doing research was The immortal life of Henrietta Lacks by @RebeccaSkloot. Adding to this list of influential books is The emerging mind, again by VRamachandran 3/5
He provides a nuanced scientific perspective as a man of science, while allowing space to understand if our philosophies are a result of the evolution of the mind or the mind a the result of the evolution of our philosophies. Super intricate neuroscience broken down to easily 4/5
Tangible pieces. Add it to your reading list immediately, and if you've already read it now might be a good time to revisit it! @PhDVoice#AcademicTwitter
