South Africa is in a crisis.!! But when the President is evidently not in control of the critical security cluster as Commander in Chief, then we are in a substantive Constitutional crisis. The country expected him to have sacked
Dlodlo, Cele and Mapisa Nqakula more than a week ago. Their incomprehensible negligence of duty has led to a destruction of KZN that could only make sense in a state of war. Yet there was no war.The signs of what could happen were predictable and predictable.
But they were ignored. This is treasonable.
But clearly the ANC is blocking the President from sacking them. This is because the ANC is not properly structured to govern effectively.
The President is shackled. And yet he's publicly committed to unite the ANC.
He has failed spectacularly to predict and control the insurrection that has regressed KZN. Over 140 000 jobs were destroyed in one week!!
Basically South Africa is facing an ANC problem. For 27yrs it has succeeded to achieve the highest levels of;
Inequality, Unemployment, Poverty and Hunger with over 13 million people struggling to have at least one meal a day.
Think deeply about this.
The pandemic found us in a desperate situation and pushed us closer to our own apocalypse.
Does President Ramaphosa have the leadership gravitas (and critical internal party support) to lead South Africa with the ANC-Led Alliance as the governing party?
I deal with this question comprehensively in this book. Read it. thabangjmotsohi.com/the-unending-s…

I see many people preach about the need for good governance at all levels in our society and state system. This is good
But the key driver of good governance is to instill a practice and discipline of high performance under ethical leadership.
However this fundamental change will require visible policy change and practice from the highest office. This will remain our biggest challenge as it will disrupt the culture of the governing party. Plse read: thabangjmotsohi.com/the-unending-s…
The outcomes we desire will not occur in the immediate term. The culture of impunity and patronage in the governing party has very deep roots. The unity and renewal that Ramaphosa has committed to achieve will extend way beyond his term.
The loss of jobs as result of the wanton pillage for past few days must leave you numb and at a loss for words. Is this what the planners wanted?
The losses come at a time our economy is devastated by the pandemic. The pain and effect will last very long.
If hunger was a primary driver for the mass looters, who primarily live in shacks, why then were the corporate and black businesses destroyed? Where will the jobs come from? Why were blood clinics looted? Why the radio transmitters, why the schoos?
Why manufacturing plants like Dunlop? Why small chemists that are are a lifeline ro the old and infirm in all residential areas, especially black townships. All these defy understanding unless; 1. A sinister and evil force intended to create chaos.
#SecurityCluster
I've earlier argued that we've been betrayed by the security cluster. Here's why: 1. On the day the CC delivered the order for incarceration, they should have known that it was unprecedented and could inflame uncritical minds of his followers
2. A simple strategic risk analysis should have revealed and concluded that immediate and visible preventative measures should have be rolled out. 3. Strategic national feeder routes should have been flagged as potential targets for creating chaos.
4. This would not be new. Past demonstrations have targeted Mooiriver Plaza. And it would have required no more than 20 SANDF members to send a frightening message 5. Shopping malls would also be primary targets. Here also the SANDF should have been deployed.
The planners and perpetrators of these vile acts of looting and destruction are well-off and living on their fat pensions. Many of the poor looters will be in jail. Others have lost their treasured jobs as the businesses they worked for have been erased.
The majority of these businesses are black owned. Many are under insured. Recovery will be impossible. The looters can hardly think this deep. For them the moment is now.
Yet we have warned govmnt about this eventuality. They never listened.
Ours are considered strange voices. They love voices from inside the tent bubble.
These riots manifest policy failure. The ANC has rejected and failed to create mass employment opportunities. Read: google.com/amp/s/www.busi…
It is absolutely clear that the majority of the looters are mainly young people in all areas.
This is criminality on steroids fueled by poverty and unemployment. The Zuma case was just a trigger.
By definition the situation demands the deployment of the SANDF
SA is a young and nascent democracy. Incidents of this nature can disrupt our democratic institutions. They have already reversed the gains made with investments.
The President seems reluctant to restore order using the SANDF. The price will soon be too high
The single message from all interviews with these unemployed and riotous young people is that they want money and they are hungry.
No platitudes and tough talk will stop this. The momentum has been reached. Only the SANDF can stop this because they are geared
DPE have declined to reveal other offers on the SAA deal. This should not surprise. Reality is that what was on sale was the SAA residual or scrap value. Offers must have been so embarrassingly low that a friendly and leveraged deal was the only option.
The Takatso consortium "deal" must be understood from this backdrop.
Value in SAA was destroyed immediately after Jarana resigned and accelerated by a series of events/missteps that precipitated the BRP intervention. 1) Ill-advised strike by T/Uns in 2019
2) Action by Solidarity to press liquidation 3) Refusal by DPE to disband Board and implement preconditions to facilitate the Ethiopian Airlines option that I advised Jarana to urgently pursue 4) ET had in principle agreed to:
a) at least 51% majority
