1. Its important to understand how sports really works... Probably every country, with the exception of the US, has govt involvement in sports... India being among the worst where retired cops & robbers are appointed heads of sports bodies..

2. The US does not have any Sports minister and all their sports bodies & Olympic org are independent bodies... The only way State govts fund sports is through their INDIRECT funding of universities but no direct funding.. @sudeshna2104

3. Till 1980 Olympics were hosted by countries with govt funding.. except the US which had part funding by states.. It was always a loss-making activity.. It is in 1984 that a genius called Peter Uberroth was made Head LA Olympics that the game changed..

4. Peter Uberroth dramatically created marketing avenues & raised phenomenal funding by ads and sponsorships worldwide for the 1984 Olympics.. this made many govts .. incl Russia, China to make their sports bodies more self-dependent... India foolishly didnt learn.. @sudeshna2104

5. 1984 Olympics was the first one that made a profit.. under Uberroth.. This provided a model for future.. now Olympics can be profitable to host.. Most countries adopted the US model of sports management even if govt funded many bodies... @sudeshna2104 .. India learned NOTHING

6. Even today.. Modi plays Mai-Baap to sportspersons.. so much that Mirabai comes and thanks Modi for her performance as if he was her coach.. Indians need to learn to shun politicians because they only seek to shine in the borrowed light of winners.. nothing else...

7. India's tropical weather does not permit endurance sports.. but there are many sports we can excel in... but we have nothing to show bec moron politicians think its a retired man's job to manage sports.. Unless the bodies are turned over to professionals.. India will lag.. END

Thats what I said above in 2. The US school level and Univ level are highly competitive in sports... its the State govt that indirectly funds them but they dont "manage" any activity as such... Thats a good model to follow and REVIEW results annually..

Instead of useless Ambedkariya Rijadvasuns... there should be more sports scholarship funding... there is hardly any in India and no inter-univ competitions to talk about... @kriram4

Read above... Peter Uberroth made 1984 the first privately financed Olympics...Not just that... it made a profit of 250mn (at that time unbelievable)... its INNOVATION... not just in sports... but sports management... that India lacks.. but we are good at long useless speeches
