1] This is what some of us mean when we say Baba Bertha has no mandate.

In his own words, he wants to dialogue with ED for electoral reforms so that there won't a repeat of the previous electoral disputes like that of 2018 "...which our colleagues (MDC-A) are complaining about" Image
2] In other words, Baba Bertha wants to dialogue on behalf of another party, which has a clear electoral mandate, and ability to represent itself, its supporters, & its voters.

In the same vein, Baba Bertha exposes his lacks the courage, in admitting the rigging of 2018.
3] Instead of simply saying electoral reforms will put to an end rigging & electoral disputes, DM makes it a "MDC-A" issue.

Yet at the same time, he & his ilk, want to claim the electoral performance of the same MDC-A.
They conveniently want to be it, only when its preferable.
4] At the very same time, DM wants to use his supposed fear of "disputed elections" to actually stop them.

The real fear isn't a disputed poll.
He's afraid of polls period!

In 2018, Mangoma performed so badly, he was ashamed to challenge the rigging, though acknowledging it.
5] Anyways, the political contradictions personified by Baba Bertha are hilariously sad.

He once described ED's regime as better than RGM's because "we can influence it".

Now he expresses disappointment at how the same ED is showing no appetite in responding to his love letter.
6] Opposed to negotiating power with him, ZanuPF is actually preparing for elections, banking on the very confusion Dougie brought to opposition politics.

He is too shallow to realise this.

ZanuPF cant be "influenced".
It only understands political pressure,& he offers none.
7] Yet even if DM understood that Zanu will only be moved by pressure, there's little he can do still.

Even if he had the capacity, Zanu would crush him & put the final nail on his political coffin.

For now though, they will let his political corpse stench our politics.

enkosi!

1] Interesting development.

But predictably, MDC-PF social media foot soldiers will dismiss this as they struggle to come to terms with what has just transpired.

Regardless of how one seems this, it's a very important development.

I'll tweet why, towards the end.
2] Up until now, noone knows the ALLIANCE partners who are being represented by this communique.

MDC-PF guys would then think, if the likes of Biti & Ncube & Ngarivume are part of this decision, then its tantamount to un-scrambling the egg, & that MDC-A isn't a party after all.
3] What this narrative conveniently ignores, is that its actually the Supreme Court judgement that unscrambled this egg.

Dougie et al, jumped at this development.
If the MDC-T went back to 2014, it can't be earth shaking, that the ALLIANCE people have gone back to 2017.

Yes?

1] Dear @NockstheGreat & @TogaraseyiLaw, you asked that I share thoughts on the MDC-A name fight.

I doubt there is anything new that can be said on the topic.
Almost all scenarios have been explained by better minds, especially Dr AM, & I do associate myself with his thoughts.
2] As a bit of context, to me, the MDC-A long became a party, which initially, just like the MDC-T, had both a party & electoral name.

You would realise that now MDC-T calls itself both that, & simply MDC.
Looking at older tweets, MDC-A also called itself both that, & just MDC.
3] The decision to almagate as MDC-A, contrary to "popular" opinion, wasn't even a response to the SC judgement.

From as far as just after the death of MRT, movements towards MDC reunification, were evident.

In any case, the ALLIANCE agreement created opportunities for this.

1] NGOs are a very important development partner in Africa in general, & Zimbabwe in particular.

To the best of my knowledge, they are cleared by relevant authorities & work directly through gov Ministries with which they have MOUs, as they "compliment government efforts".
2] The office of the PDC or DDC (former PA & DA respectively) are ZanuPF political structures populated by unelected & incompetent political figureheads.

Both offices simply disturb the work of Councils.

The same explains the creation of the office of State Ministers.
3] I fail to, respectively, understand how a PDC has the competence, let alone legal footing to regulate the operation of NGOs (which is important).

With the size of Harare, only @TMuguti knows how he plans to execute this.

Allow NGOs to operate freely through line Ministries.

1] Meanwhile, said Tungamirai Madzokere on ZimboTV Live:

"@OurMDCT Leadership, led by Yvonne Musarurwa came to my house and told me that my release from prison was necessitated by @DMwonzora as part of his negotiation with ZanuPF for supporting Const Amendment Bill number 2..."
2] T Madzokere:

"This exposes injustices in Zim as courts are influenced by the Executive & the Legislature, which shouldnt be the case. The Constitution we wrote clearly separates the Judiciary, Parliament, Executive & Cabinet. We shouldnt be having one influencing judgements"
3] T Madzokere:

"I cannot be happy for being released due to political intervention. I want to be released because I committed no crime. The scholarly judgement shows the intervention of God with Judges being Spokespersons of the heavenly intervention, because of my innocence"

1] In memory of #June2008

My biggest problem with the politics of "rational disputation" is that it equalizes the behaviour of the perpetrators of electoral violence & its victims.

You cant say to both, "asifuni iviolence".
Had Zimbos been violent, we would have had civil wars.
2] In memory of #June2008

You equally can't sweep down the proverbial carpet, the experiences of Zimbabweans at the hands of the State, by hiring merchants in the Opposition, to front a pseudo reconciliation & national healing drive.

You do so through truth & justice.
3] In memory of #June2008

You equally don't attempt to be seen as desperately "siding" with the citizens, by driving a half-baked, revisiont anti-ED agenda that separates him, from Mugabe, yet he was his Chief Elections Agent in 2008.

"Qui facit per alium facit per se"

1] Fellow members of humanity....I've been cracking my head over something which seems to be a feature of Zimbabwean politics.

What exactly is the end game for Opposition politics?

Can an Opposition party exist and be useful, whilst accepting that it cannot win State power? Image
2] I say so, because I've become absolutely convinced that @DMwonzora is comfortable with just existing as an Opposition Leader.

The core Leadership of @OurMDCT is populated by fatigued yesteryear activists who for all intent and purpose, just want to co-exist with ZanuPF. Image
3] Rational disputational is for me, the intellectualization of a defeatist attitude which has engulfed MDC-T.

Baba Bertha is simply saying to Baba Collins, "you can go ahead & (rig)win all elections, but just allow us to exist".

They are clearly comfortable that way. Image
