Vaccines work, but they take time to achieve full effect. 🧵

Just thought I’d share some real-life evidence of this. I have joined a couple of COVID antibody studies, so I’ve had the opportunity to track the presence of antibodies in my body overtime. Here’s what I learned: 1/7
First antibody test (mid 2020): NEGATIVE
That horrible cold I had at the end of February? Nope, not likely COVID. 2/7
Second antibody test (early 2021, one week after my first dose of Pfizer): NEGATIVE
Was I hoping it would be positive? Sure. But I wasn’t surprised - it was only my first dose and not even 10 days had past since I received it. 3/7
Third antibody test (mid 2021, a couple of months after getting both Pfizer doses): POSITIVE
Yes!!!! Give me those antibodies! Relieved to know I’m protected, but also aware that aside from this, my body has likely also produced a T-cell response that may last even longer. 4/7
My point? For those waiting - for whatever reason - to get their first or second dose, please consider doing so ASAP. 5/7
Best case scenario, it will take you minimum 5 weeks to achieve full response after dose 1 (dose 1 + at least 3 weeks for Pfizer or at least 4 weeks for Moderna + dose 2 + 2 weeks = full immunity). 6/7
We’re seeing cases rise again around the world due to Delta and there’s no time like the present to protect yourself and all those you come into contact with by getting vaccinated. 7/7

Does anyone remember when @Yelp used to list whether a business was a good Pokémon spot? If they can do that, surely they can start noting the vaccine policy of a business. How about you, @googlemaps?
I’m fully vaccinated, and I am NOT ready to take my mask off indoors unless I know everyone that can be vaccinated around me is, too. Our vaccine rate isn’t high enough, and Delta is a major concern.

*N.B.: I am happily visiting as many patios as my body can take right now.
Considering that in #Ontario, over 66% of those eligible are fully vaccinated, and I’m sure many like me share my concerns, a #vaccinecertificate is actually fantastic for business when looking at the numbers of potential patrons this would appeal to.
