Is there a movie about "Blood Copper" on the horizon? "On average, an internal combustion engine uses 55 pounds of copper. A hybrid uses about 110 pounds and an EV uses 165 pounds." katusaresearch.com/believe-im-rig…
2014: “Promoting a stock is like making a movie,” Friedland once said. “You’ve got to have stars, props, and a good script.” proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news…
2019: “Every time I go and see him I first zip my pocket,” says Pierre Lassonde, a Canadian mining veteran" ft.com/content/2f170b…
Oooh. Look. CITIC, China, Friedland and Dan Gertler. "By setting up new secret companies and hiring legal advisors close to Donald Trump, the Israeli billionaire plans to counter US penalties" africa-confidential.com:1070/article-previe…
"The sanctions had been introduced for his allegedly corrupt relationship with DR Congo's former President Joseph Kabila, helping him make a vast fortune from copper and cobalt deals in the country, something both men deny" bbc.com/news/world-afr…
2021: "In addition to Gertler and Deboutte, a total of 35 companies sanctioned in two waves...including Fleurette Properties, Oil of DR Congo and Moku Mines d’Or SA – are again allowed to carry out transactions with firms based in the US." theafricareport.com/61491/drc-a-fi…
What happened? “Gertler is an international businessman and billionaire who has amassed his fortune through hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth of opaque and corrupt mining and oil deals in the Democratic Republic of the Congo,” nytimes.com/2021/01/24/us/…
How did corrupt copper suddenly become clean copper? thesentry.org/2021/01/24/524…
Let's not forget that DRC was also Zaire but was also the Belgian Congo. Once the private property of King Leopold. A place that has inspired one of the greatest allegory for man's descent into corruption and savagery. globalwitness.org/en/campaigns/o…
A Russia/Ukraine/Polish sailor named Józef Teodor Konrad Korzeniowski captained a steamer up the Congo in 1890 and wrote a short novella on his experiences. The book captures outsiders greed for natural resources and the deadly impact on the locals. theguardian.com/books/booksblo…
Conrad's steamship was the "Roi De Belges". Also the name for a luxury car also called a double phaeton. Leopold's mistress Cléo de Mérode came up with the pretentious design in 1901. Archduke Franz Ferdinand was riding in one when he was murdered. bestride.com/news/entertain…
Leopold's private park was eventually taken over by the Belgian government. In their insatiable need to have rubber. Rubber would be the miracle ingredient that would make cars ride smoothly. It didn't matter how the locals were dealt with. bbc.com/news/business-…
I was in a war over copper. Bougainvilleans started a revolution when they saw the vast open pit and the green poison that flowed out of Panguna. They said the miners were stealing their mother. An extraordinary experience. Complete with smoking volcano. ejatlas.org/conflict/rio-t…
The exploitation of copper, rare earth minerals (REES) cobalt (coltan) are intertwined in the Congo. Ideally the money will flow, locals will benefit and conditions will improve. Stop me if you heard this one before. hrw.org/news/2020/06/1…
Congo, copper and coltan attract a certain type of investor. This guy wants to "end cobalt’s status as a “conflict mineral” in Congo, and his plans included regular jobs and incomes for artisanal miners who toil in in horrific conditions, in “loincloth,” foreignpolicy.com/2019/01/25/fro…
I used to explore for copper up in the mountains and I was able to what nature looks like before the massive trucks begin removing the earth. So remember when you buy your eco-friendly electric car that this is part of the deal with the devil. blog.iseekplant.com.au/blog/5-largest…

"Strip away the layers and it boils down to just the sort of arrangement the founding fathers feared. A foreign government, it seems, has been paying the president of the United States for more than a year. " vanityfair.com/news/2020/09/h…
If you get past the media's Russia fixation. There is some damn fine reporting on what is about to unpack. reuters.com/article/us-usa…
It's a story of secret deals with foreign nations paying through proxies and most brokered by Jared, Rudy and other Trump insiders. vanityfair.com/news/2019/03/j…

Cobalt. Congo. Gertler. Corruption. We were just discussing this yesterday. Other popular characters will be named. swissinfo.ch/eng/bloomberg/…

We can blame Gustav Holst and his work "The Planets" for Black Sabbath.
That was 1970 but you could argue that the Kinks did the heavy riff first with You Really Got Me in 1964 which is really based on the jazz song, 1957 The Train and the River by Jimmy Giuffre.
By 1968 everyone was playing some form of "heavy" guitar lick. One of my faves was Inna Gadda Da Video and Summertime Blues which was originally done in 1958 by Eddie Cochran. But they didn't have the amps to make it "heavy". Just loud.

Poor Little Rich Kid Syndrome: "As a posture, it’s also sort of shrewd. Trump Jr. can’t relate to the material conditions of most Americans’ lives, but he can relate to his followers’ frustration with feeling under-seen on the internet." theatlantic.com/technology/arc…
It seems clear from the fund raising grifts based on faux outrage that the right is doing OK rattling the tin cup, albeit striking fast. It just might be that the right is just not into Junior anymore. politico.com/news/2020/09/2…
You can be famous as an asshole and confuse visibility of your message with public approval of that message. You have to stick to the wrestler bad guy rules of fame. Always have a fake nasty public persona and and real private one that is nice. today.yougov.com/topics/politic…

Since when didn't dictators win? newyorker.com/magazine/2021/…
The idea of journalism done in secrecy is odd. Sources need to be protected but in reality there is no legal protection for journalists or their sources. An example: John Walker Lindh's lawyer insisted that I was working for the USG and entrapped him. cnn.com/2002/LAW/07/12…
non LEO phone surveillance/recording is illegal in most states but the fines are trivial. Data capture isn't technically illegal because of user agreements on apps. criminaldefenselawyer.com/resources/crim…

Will NSO's IPO be DOA? "working for NSO does not necessarily go hand-in-hand with the ideal of making the world a better place." haaretz.com/israel-news/te…
We have peak antisemite. The perfect union of ice cream and espionage. Let's mix in some Broidy, MBS and Epstein, sprinkle it with Carbyne, season it with Banoun and towhead, stir in some covid tracking and 911 to cook up a pan-Abrahamic clusterfuck. vice.com/en/article/qj8…
"Millions of people around the world are sleeping well at night, and safely walking in the streets, thanks to Pegasus and similar technologies which help intelligence agencies and law enforcement agencies around the world.....
