We can blame Gustav Holst and his work "The Planets" for Black Sabbath.
That was 1970 but you could argue that the Kinks did the heavy riff first with You Really Got Me in 1964 which is really based on the jazz song, 1957 The Train and the River by Jimmy Giuffre.
By 1968 everyone was playing some form of "heavy" guitar lick. One of my faves was Inna Gadda Da Video and Summertime Blues which was originally done in 1958 by Eddie Cochran. But they didn't have the amps to make it "heavy". Just loud.
In 1968 Paul McCartney wanted to write the "dirtiest filthiest loudest song" ever after reading Pete Townsend bragging about his new album. He had no idea what song Pete was talking about.
The Hendrix cover song of Bob Dylan's All Along the Watchtower in 1968 was probably the best example of the shift to loud music. Not technically heavy metal but stacked and dimed Marshalll Super Lead 100 Watt full-stacks made it loud.
The use of Marshall's and Fenders were started by the Beatles and the Who who went with Marshall Major's before switching to Sound City and the Hiwatt DR103. In 1976 the Who was pushing 76,000 watts at 120 decibels. udiscovermusic.com/stories/loudes…
All this to say that some of the hardest hit from the pandemic are the multi millionaires who rely on noisy concerts to keep the cash flow going. Like zombies who never die.. 70's bands are back this year: Eagles, Journey, Rod Stewart, Eagles and more. concertful.com/tour-dates/2021
Music is so messed up I can't tell what decade is "hip" or "oldies" anymore.
Thankfully Boomers still worship the "riff"
"[Songwriting is] an impersonal, assembly-line-driven process that would make Henry Ford proud.” nypost.com/2015/10/04/you…

"Strip away the layers and it boils down to just the sort of arrangement the founding fathers feared. A foreign government, it seems, has been paying the president of the United States for more than a year. " vanityfair.com/news/2020/09/h…
If you get past the media's Russia fixation. There is some damn fine reporting on what is about to unpack. reuters.com/article/us-usa…
It's a story of secret deals with foreign nations paying through proxies and most brokered by Jared, Rudy and other Trump insiders. vanityfair.com/news/2019/03/j…

RUMINT: Kushner is talking. Not just about domestic crimes as Cohen surmised but dishing the traitorous misdeeds of Fabulous Fuckery Fools paid with UAE and KSA money. Things are happening very quickly. Like Barrack, Jared is suspected of being a foreign asset. #ZappedByWhatsApp
A series of dramatic shutdowns are occurring in areas I monitor that are linked to KSA/UAE projects related to Kushner and Prince. Most are soft landings with people paid to go home. This is big and moving fast.
If you followed my posts over the last four years you will know what I am talking about. These projects range from TS/SCI CONUS contracts to rogue foreign UAE funded fuckery projects. All linked. Even I am impressed at the speed at which connective tissue is being snipped.

Poor Little Rich Kid Syndrome: "As a posture, it’s also sort of shrewd. Trump Jr. can’t relate to the material conditions of most Americans’ lives, but he can relate to his followers’ frustration with feeling under-seen on the internet." theatlantic.com/technology/arc…
It seems clear from the fund raising grifts based on faux outrage that the right is doing OK rattling the tin cup, albeit striking fast. It just might be that the right is just not into Junior anymore. politico.com/news/2020/09/2…
You can be famous as an asshole and confuse visibility of your message with public approval of that message. You have to stick to the wrestler bad guy rules of fame. Always have a fake nasty public persona and and real private one that is nice. today.yougov.com/topics/politic…

Since when didn't dictators win? newyorker.com/magazine/2021/…
The idea of journalism done in secrecy is odd. Sources need to be protected but in reality there is no legal protection for journalists or their sources. An example: John Walker Lindh's lawyer insisted that I was working for the USG and entrapped him. cnn.com/2002/LAW/07/12…
non LEO phone surveillance/recording is illegal in most states but the fines are trivial. Data capture isn't technically illegal because of user agreements on apps. criminaldefenselawyer.com/resources/crim…
