1/ @JordanWildon and I looked at data from 30 QAnon Telegram chats to try and estimate the size of the QAnon community.

We found that there are 135,150 active accounts. QAnon is not Dead, rather it is the most active extremist community on Telegram. gnet-research.org/2021/07/28/qan…
2/ We didn't simply rely on registered accounts, rather we looked at the posting history of accounts and measured how often individual accounts sent messages or replies, or forwarded content from elsewhere. logically.ai/articles/new-t…
3/ this is important as plenty of users likely joined Telegram immediately after QAnon social media bans, but found the platform difficult to use, overwhelmed by constant message notifications, or been uninterested in the content, and logged off forever.
4/ When you log off your account is still "active" and you would still appear in the count. Also of importance is the basic security feature of Telegram, whereby an account is deleted after 6 months of inactivity.
5/ We broke down the groups be regions, based on the location of influencers, the sociopolitical content being discussed, the language, or the known location of the influencer. Of note is that QAnon EU and International surpass QAnon US/Influencers (who are almost all american)
6/ This speaks to how active and present the international QAnon community is today on Telegram, but also how this echoes international reporting on the movement.
7/ Like in most chats, the majority of the community are lurkers, observing what is going on. On average about 1% of users have posted between 100 and 1000 times. The exception is the influencer chats, where the community is more active as the respond to the influencers channel.
8/ From the remaining users, which we categorised as regularly active, 1.68% (4,599) are responsible for the vast majority of posts made into these groups, 3.35% (9,219) being moderately active (25 to 100 posts), and 20.36% (56,035) being only a little active (2 to 24 posts).
9/ We found that 74.62% of users either had never posted or posted only once (likely to complete the verification to join the chat). While single posts are enough to confirm an account entering a group is intentional, these users can not be considered active participants.
10/ One segment we were not able to measure is the comment section in Telegram channels. Channel admin can open up a "comment" section under a channel post, so some users like GhostEzra has thousands of comments under his channel posts, which are not accounted for.
11/ There are limitations to this analysis. 30 Chats is obviously a sample, though these are the largest and most active by our estimation. Further, we cannot account for the amount of active members in the comment sections of channels at this time
12/ We measured active, by posting patterns; however it is important to note that consumption of extremist content is active behavior, just one we cannot measure. Consuming content online without engaging, but acting out offline is very likely a reality for many QAnon adherents.
13/ Therefore, the estimation of 135,150 users in chats does not account for those who prefer to spend their times in Channels, or who may be active on other alt-tech platforms and may simply be using Telegram and an information consumption ecosystem.
14/ This also does not account for QAnon adjacent communities or soft-QAnon communities active in other ecosystems, and who may not be using clear QAnon related language, but abides by their narratives and tropes.
15/ What this implies is that the active QAnon community, though likely smaller than it was in 2020, very likely surpasses our estimation. Within this pool of actors you have a mix of violent and non-violent extremists. Nevertheless, QAnon is not dead for now.

How bad can believing in QAnon be? Consider this: you are a survivor of a mass shooting, and your own father has gone from supportive figure, to believing that the traumatic life altering experience you suffered was a hoax and that you are a crisis actor vice.com/en/article/g5g…
This series by @daithaigilbert based on an anonymous Reddit post in r/QAnonCasualties reddit.com/r/QAnonCasualt… is a horrendous example of the human cost of believing in QAnon, but also to what degree belief in QAnon changes your entire world view.
It doesn't help that this specific conspiracy theory is not only pushed by QAnon adherents, or but it comes from the mouth of someone sitting in Congress. The political reinforcement of QAnon continues gives the movement credibility, in the absence of Q vice.com/en/article/epn…

An Online Environmental Scan of Right-Wing Extremism in Canada isdglobal.org/isd-publicatio…
ISD identified 2,467 RWE accounts, channels, & pages which were active in 2020, which produced a total of 3,207,332 pieces of content.
"The comparative scale of this activity is difficult to determine, but if considered in the context of the total number of SM users in Canada, the proportion of RWE activity remains small" "Despite this, RWEs in Canada are able to generate a sizeable reaction from the public."

1/ How is QAnon reacting to the launch of GETTR? Well it's a mixed bag for the conspiracy theorists. Some believe that it's code for GET HR (get her/get Hillary) while others thinks it's a code and a trap to get Trump and patriots GET TR
2/ This misplaced trust is not surprising, as the most shared posts on Telegram about this are from Fake Accounts set up for Liz Crokin (og influencer) and fake accounts for Sidney Powell and Michael Flynn.
3/ Not sure how reliable a QAnon influencer reaching out to Flynn and Powell is to confirm they're not on GETTR, but if they are not some one from the platform is trying to get them to join or give the appearance they are there to generate traffic.

Roughly half of respondents who agree with QAnon also agree that the rise of liberalism has enabled Jewish people to destroy institutions and take over the world.

QAnon and Protocols believers were slightly more likely than U.S. conservatives to say that Capitol rioters were seeking to protect the government.
Both conspiracy-embracing groups track closely with right-leaning adults when it comes to questions about voter fraud and the 2020 presidential election.

1) Perceived White population decline (pwpd) leads to collective existential threat
2) Existential threat is related to FR support
3) PWPD has a robust indirect relationship with measures of FR support via collective existential threat. sciencedirect.com/science/articl…
What the study found was that individuals who perceived White population decline were more likely to agree with the statements “My racial group may one day disappear” and “My racial group is on the verge of annihilation.”
This existential threat, in turn, predicted increase sympathy for feelings for far-right extremist groups and increased support for stricter immigration policies.
The existential threat was not triggered by other types of population change the study found.

This was posted to McAfee's Instagram and is running wild in QAnon ecosystems unsurprisingly. Some are saying he had information Hilary, others said he's Epstein 2.0, others asking if he was Q?
The exact timestamp indicated possibly a scheduled post: 2021-06-23T20:10:04.000Z h/t to my buddy @JordanWildon
The time and timestamp indicated that this was a planned post troll, he's last post was October 2020 and the one before that November 19. The infrequency of his Instragram post raises a red flag with this last one and begs the question if someone with account access is trolling
