What people don't seem to get is that Biden is a centrist and he is "partisan" but partisan in the sense that the far left and the far right despise him not in the sense that he suggests "radical reforms"

He could literally walk on water - and the far right and the far left would still hate him....they hated him before he took office, they hate him in office, and both the far right and a huge percentage of the far left preferred Trump

Now, I am not in love with him at all, and I am increasingly getting frustrated with him.....but, people have to understand that absent a very possible second civil war or coup, most of the country lives in the middle

The far right mostly hates him because they raise money with their base by opposing everything or are actually trying to overthrow democracy....a lot of craven and corrupt nihilists and a bunch of fascists and racist reactionaries

The far left mostly hates him because he hasn't burned the whole place down....which he was never going to do, that is just not who he is....also, most of the country is not ready for that (only the coasts - to some extent - are)

I do think he has tried to do some complicated things, he has passed aid for poor folks and tried very hard to get a lot of people vaccinated, all while dealing with an insurrectionist GOP who is working very hard against public health in a pandemic. That is a fair assessment.

But I also hope he doesn't abandon a lot of his campaign platform....and they are so tight with messaging security that it often appears like they are running a state media organization from behind the iron curtain, it does not feel organic or genuine and people feel that

I do wish he didn't have to deal with the most destructive and dangerous opposition party since the 1860's - frankly, between them and the actual threat of violent extremism, it makes it impossible for him or his team to relax and start authentically connecting

You can certainly hate what I am saying, but it is an accurate assessment. Dude is never going to be a slick speaker - although he has moments - but he is actually trying (in an incredibly tough environment) to get some things done

That said, he is making some unforced errors - for instance, he really has an opportunity to use the bully pulpit to educate people about the homicide spike but instead his team seems to be playing into the GOP narrative, he should commute the 4,000 and #KeepThemHome
