.@Tsihanouskaya: “We are fighting inside, we are gathering support from the outside, we are trying to put multiple points of pressure on Lukashenko's regime. There are many processes going on, but we are open to and need the help of the world and its experts.”
.@kavaleuski: The lack of transparency in communication about foreign relations serves only Lukashenko. There is danger in closed-door back channels to address issues that should be known more widely to the people of #Belarus and our society.
.@franakviacorka: We've learned from places like #HongKong, and from books by Gene Sharp, but we have also had to invent new ways of resisting, because many of the strategies these sources recommended we tried without success. So we are finding new ways to #StandWithBelarus.
.@Tsihanouskaya: In #Belerus, people have not been involved in our constitution for many years. These are complicated issues that need more work and thought. But it is should not be one person who decides how Belarus will be; that is up to the people.
.@dkushneruk: We need to make sure that we are winning the minds of the people of Eastern Europe and pushing back against the brainwashing of state forces. We can’t let people lose faith that they can win, and that the state can change, and that things will be different.
.@Tsihanouskaya: Our task right now is not to debate how or with whom #Belarus will align in the future. Our task is to give our people back their ability to choose. Once we have our choices back, we will be able to decide where the road forward for Belarus will go.
Thank you, @Tsihanouskaya, for joining our scholars and @McFaul at @Stanford today to lend your voice to the cause of democracy and civil liberty in #Belarus, Eastern Europe and beyond. We are inspired and grateful for your courage and leadership. #StandWithBelarus
