1./ If anyone should know Sex Matters it should be @LSHTM. Yet in a serious case of Gender Identity infection it recently urged staff to use gender neutral language. Queer Theory claims biological sex is fluid and irrelevant but SEX is fundamental to much of the School's work. 
2./ We know this from the School's excellent Centre for Maternal Health. MARCH is dedicated to reducing the "10 million new-born, child, adolescent, maternal, and stillborn deaths" every year. Women's reproductive biology is of course its central focus. lshtm.ac.uk/research/centr…
3./ Sex is also at the heart of the School's famous work on mosquito borne diseases like yellow fever, zika and dengue. It also houses the library of Sir Ronald Ross, who discovered malaria is transmitted by mosquitoes; a process rooted in biological sex. lshtm.ac.uk/research/libra…
4./ SEX explains why mosquitoes are so deadly, killing over 1M people every year. Only FEMALES transmit it. A show I made years ago about Ross's discovery explained how the malaria parasite exploits the reproductive life cycle of the FEMALE mosquito.👇
5./ That's because only FEMALE mozzies feed on blood. They do so to nourish their eggs. Males feed on pollen, the wimps. For a century we humans have been trying to disrupt this reproductive cycle which is entirely rooted in the fixed category of SEX not some gender fluid woohoo.
6./ Most recently MALE mosquitoes (yep, not the gender queer ones) have been infected with bacteria and released to mate with wild FEMALE mosquitoes. The bacteria stop the FEMALES reproducing and in time the population in an area dwindles. statnews.com/2018/02/08/mos…
7./ A similar trick seems to work with genetically modified mosquitoes. Millions of GM males are being released in Brazil where they mate with FEMALES, passing on a gene which makes their young self-destruct. Populations are reduced by as much as 95%.👇 labiotech.eu/trends-news/
8./ I filmed them being released for a film I made about the disease Zika. It wasn't just its mode of transmission - female mosquitoes- that was rooted in biological SEX. The virus had very different effects on men and women, especially pregnant women. 👇
9./ Of all places @LSHTM knows biological sex can't be some option on a menu of social justice virtue signals. Understanding its role in our biology is a matter of life and death. Ask the parents of the children who die, one every 2 seconds, from malaria. Or ask the mosquito.
