Iran-Israel ship tanker conflict thread: Of interest in the apparent attack by Iran (or Iran proxy) on ship off Oman that killed two and which Israel's foreign minister has hinted Iran was behind; is that IRAN media seems to ignore the attack purposely, why?
Iran's media in the past has mentioned attacks at sea, such as the June 2019 attack on the Kokuka Courageous and also the Norwegian-owned Front Altair. Iran media often reports quickly on Houthi attacks or new drone abilities. So why purposely ignore this.
Iran could just quote foreign media; often Iran media will even launder Israeli reports; but this time it is remaining quiet.
So since we know about the Iranian "laundry" of foreign media reports; what's going on with the Oman incident, is it because the regime is worried they killed two people, a big violation of maritime law? jpost.com/middle-east/th…
Here is Lapid's tweet; "Iran is not just an Israeli problem, but an exporter of terrorism, destruction and instability that are hurting us all. We must never remain silent in the face of Iranian terrorism, which also harms freedom of navigation."
So what is going on? Why is pro-Iran media so quiet. Except the Al-Alam TV report, Al-Mayadeen and others are also ignoring this. That seems systematic and purposeful. That is a message. But WHAT is the message. Is it concern or quiet before the storm.

There's some claims out there that the Iran attack on a commercial ship off Oman was "retaliation" for an airstrike in Syria...ummm you can't retaliate for an airstrike on a military target by murdering two sailors on a commercial boat who have no connection to Israel.
This is always the logic of terrorist "retaliation" and also the logic Iran has used in the past, targeting tourists in Bulgaria or a Jewish center in Argentina...it's not "retaliation"...it's murder, it's terror and it is carried out at civilian targets purposely.
Imagine the reverse logic of this...that for some Iranian attack, Israel would "retaliate" by targeting some civilian ship or attacking a Shi'ite community center? It makes no sense. Only with Iran and its proxies is this bizarre narrative even considered.
I’ve seen some debates where Kurds express disappointment at foreigners who refer to the Kurdistan region of Iraq only as “Iraq”…of course the foreigners reply “it’s part of Iraq”….but the same foreigners seem capable of highlighting Wales, Scotland, Corsica, and other regions
So Id say that when knowledgeable foreigners purposely say “Iraq” when they are for instance showing photos of nature in Kurdistan. The same folk usually appreciate minorities and regions everywhere else in the world. So purposely not mentioning the Kurdish region is signaling
It’s about signaling to racist and supremacist peers usually who are fascistic nationalists and who they may work with or adore and who for them the word “Kurdistan” is somehow unacceptable.
The alleged deadly drone attack on a ship off Oman today which is making waves amid Israel-Iran tensions illustrates the growing role of drones in attacks and also how countries that operate them can remain hidden behind proxy groups or other operators. thenationalnews.com/gulf-news/oman…
This is important because Iran has exported drones and drone tech to Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis and Iraqi militias. In Iraq drones are playing a major and emerging role in attacks on US forces; #DroneWarsnationalreview.com/2021/04/irans-…
In May a drone was flown by Iran into Israeli airspace, following a similar February 2018 incident. The May 2021 drone may have been operated from Iraq. jpost.com/middle-east/di…
Interesting details here from @BarakRavid, the decision to leave UNESCO was short-sighted, Israel has many important UNESCO sites and was seeking to add more and then left the organization rather than seeking reform from within. Israel lost out here, and it is good to return.
The new US administration is finally sending a signal to Ankara-backed extremists that have ethnically cleansed parts of Syria and targeted minorities. Amazing. They are actually mentioning Hevrin Khalaf and mentioning the abuses. The last US admin worked to prevent condemnation.
It should be noted that these extremist groups that are similar to Nazis operate in areas of Syria illegally occupied by the Ankara regime. It is a huge shame that the peaceful people were put under occupation of these horrid groups and minorities cleansed.
Powerful statement, under the former US administration these genocidal groups were unleashed by Ankara against the peaceful people of Syria to commit war crimes. It could have been prevented, but it appears increasingly Ankara had inroads in DC and some wanted to ally with these
It's extraordinary how close some in key positions in the US came to Ankara's extremists between 2016 and 2020, particularly in 2018-2019...there were those who quietly wanted to work with these groups, who saw them as the future of Syria.
Then these horrid people who wanted these groups to harm Qamishli, Kobani, Derek, Hasakah and basically all of Syria, after destroying Afrin, those "Turkey first" folk...got the boot and left the US admin and went to work for think tanks and other places...
