Powerful statement, under the former US administration these genocidal groups were unleashed by Ankara against the peaceful people of Syria to commit war crimes. It could have been prevented, but it appears increasingly Ankara had inroads in DC and some wanted to ally with these
It's extraordinary how close some in key positions in the US came to Ankara's extremists between 2016 and 2020, particularly in 2018-2019...there were those who quietly wanted to work with these groups, who saw them as the future of Syria.
Then these horrid people who wanted these groups to harm Qamishli, Kobani, Derek, Hasakah and basically all of Syria, after destroying Afrin, those "Turkey first" folk...got the boot and left the US admin and went to work for think tanks and other places...
It's awful, but some people even wanted to work with HTS...always imagining these horrible far-right fascist, extremist genocidal groups can be "moderated" or "used against Iran"...but they are only "used" against the poor and the minorities. They never "fight Iran"...
The great myth of some "foreign policy" commentators has been this "Sunni vs. Shia" myth whereby the West, like the US, can "take sides" and work with one extremist group against another...it's bizarre...people don't get it, the extremists can't be "used" against Hezbollah, Iran
There is no policy whereby the extremists can be "used"...first of all because they aren't stupid, they use the US...the US never get anything out of it...the poor and minorities are harmed...and in many cases it is other extremists who win.
In every instance where a policy included the quiet belief that extremist groups can be "used" and "well, they are anti-Iran so that's good" is the logic...that belief flops on the rocks because the "anti-Iran" extremists never fight Iran, they fight random poor people
Never accept a logic by an outsider who proposes that some local group that is extreme can be "used" to achieve some other objective. It never works, never has worked and never will work.

The new US administration is finally sending a signal to Ankara-backed extremists that have ethnically cleansed parts of Syria and targeted minorities. Amazing. They are actually mentioning Hevrin Khalaf and mentioning the abuses. The last US admin worked to prevent condemnation.
Read the full important statement on this group and others. home.treasury.gov/news/press-rel…
It should be noted that these extremist groups that are similar to Nazis operate in areas of Syria illegally occupied by the Ankara regime. It is a huge shame that the peaceful people were put under occupation of these horrid groups and minorities cleansed.

I took a two day hike and camping trip to northern Israel, it’s hot this week but also lack of tourists mean some areas have less people (mostly youth from Israel who are out of school); here I am at the Kinneret
And old ruin from the Unmayad period near Ginosar
Walking the Sea of Galilee; the trail is not well marked and requires a lot of detours ; the Catholic sites of Pilgerhaus and Tabgha appear closed; did run into teens building pontoon boats

Thread: Descriptions of European ISIS are always interesting, how they turn the adults into "trapped" victims; no one forced thousands of privileged people from wealthiest EU countries to travel to poor Syria and Iraq to enslave, colonize, genocide locals. Adults aren't "trapped"
The adult women trapped themselves. They came from the MOST privileged countries in the world and illegally crossed into Syria and sometimes Iraq, traded in slaves and genocide. It's like pretending former Nazis were "trapped" after the Shoah because they couldn't travel freely
There are trapped people, such as the millions abused and whose lives were ruined and harmed by ISIS. They don't get much support. In fact in terms of coverage one European will get more coverage than millions in Syria and Iraq.

There are some recent claims about this bridge, I noticed that the previous Israeli government was not critiqued about this and even members of that government are now coming out suddenly to critique the new Israeli government which was in power only a month 🤔
So you notice that the same political voices now shouting about this and bringing up Meron….are the SAME ones who said nothing before the Meron disaster and were on board with having nothing done about it and no investigations…but now suddenly they bring it up?
Odd how this bridge was not used to try to stoke a crisis with Jordan and the PA in Jerusalem under the last government, but suddenly became a risk in June 2021. Bridges don’t become unsafe overnight, if it was unsafe it was unsafe for years….nothing was done

1/2 The future is here...#DroneWars;. IN Saudi Arabia, US Marines assigned to Special Purpose Marine Air-Ground Task Force – Crisis Response – Central Command (SPMAGTF-CR-CC), participate in Counter-Unmanned Aircraft System (C-UAS) training, Central Command area of operations;
"The training involved familiarization with the hand-held C-UAS devices that are designed to detect and deter enemy drones. The SPMAGTF-CR-CC is a crisis response force, prepared to deploy a variety of capabilities (U.S. Marine Corps photo by Gunnery Sgt. Melissa Marnell)"
