What in the hell happened? Let’s step through it.

A school girl from Indooroopilly High tested positive yday. We knew this. Today-boom-six cases - a tutor, a teacher, her parents and siblings.

They’re trying to work out how she got it but they’re looking at some return travellers who possibly gave it to the tutor - who’d been everywhere.

Besties they DID NOT mess around. They pulled the lockdown lever on 11 LGAs.
Their deputy Premier says it’s the strictest lockdown they’ve ever had. The popo are on the streets, 10km bubble, no visitors to homes, cinemas and gyms closed.

Which LGA’s and how long? I got you.

Brisbane,Moreton Bay,Gold Coast, Ipswich,Lockyer Valley, Logan, Noosa,Redland, Scenic Rim, Somerset and Sunshine Coast. At this stage it’s a three day event. Preps for the Ekka have been put on hold. Saturday’s NRL games have been cancelled.

What did everyone else do?
Tassie - they immediately classified the 11 areas a level two risk. They’ve shut the border and anyone already there - into iso you go go. Annnnnd Victoria made those areas red zones.

Two new cases today! One in iso.. one not ao iso - but! It’s ok when you look at the detail.

One case is the partner of traffic control no covid control man. The second is a colleague of his -they shared a car ride. He’s only been to two exposure sites and had minimal time in the community. See? Not so bad.

What else? They’ve changed Pfizer doses to six weeks apart to give more people a chance of getting a first dose.

210 new cases
88 are linked (74 are from household spread 14 close contacts )
122 are mystery cases
58 were in iso / 11 part iso
21 were in the community
120 cases 🕵🏽

203 people are in hospital ( ⬆️ 16 on yday)
53 in ICU ( ⬇️ 5 on yday )
27 on ventilators ( ⬆️ 3 on yday )
3190 cases have been reported since June 16.

A man in his 60s has died in his home. This is really sad sis. It’s happened a few times now. They think people are worried about losing their income and they’re not getting tested.

Also two thirds of their COVID cases are people under 40. 11 of the ICU cases - are under 40.

Annnnd we won a bronze in the 4x100m MIXED medley relay. This is the first time this race has been held. WOOP! 👦🏽👩🏽👦🏽👩🏽
