They did this just before they launched parachains on $KSM
I speculate after this, they'll get the next round of auctions started

What they're doing hasn't been done before. It's the only layer 0 meta protocol in existence and Kusama now has 6 blockchains (parachains) running on top of it.
Fully fledged domain-specific blockchains, interoperable and backed by the shared security of the entire network.

Once they deem it stable enough, the next wave of auctions will start. And I suspect the "retreat" will aim to finalise this process.
Haven't heard any rumours of the date for the $DOT auctions, but it's logical to say when things are flourishing on the canary network it's time

$KAR is the only native parachain token traded right now and at the absolute beginning of the roadmap. I'm confident their DeFi platform will be a huge catalyst for the entire ecosystem.
$MOVR seems close to launching, a big favourite of mine and what's poised to be ETH on KSM.

I'm impatiently waiting for next wave of auctions to start solely due to $KILT starting their crowdloan.
I know for a fact they're working with the EU (Gaix-X), German Gov (Energy + Food) and banks.
Unlike the other parachains, their token will be the same on both DOT+KSM.

It's barely possible for one person to stay on top of the upcoming parachain projects.

Parachains will themselves form their own ecosystems.
Moonbeam/Moonriver for example, you can effectively run ANY ethereum dapp on there. Just this one parachain has 50+ projects building on it.
