Six months ago, #TurningofDays entered the world. It feels like both yesterday & a lifetime ago & reminds me of how strangely we experience time.

In modern life, we tend tithis is fine & good. Until your forward progress is stalled. Until you’re in the same place you were 1 year… 2 years… 10 years ago…

In these liminal moments when we find ourselves unexpectedly paused it can feel like we’ve missed something. & that we’ve failed somehow. Weren’t we supposed to b further along Weren’t we supposed to have accomplished more? Weren’t we supposed to have life figured out by now?

In the book of Ecclesiastes, the Preacher wrestles w/ the passage of time, particularly the way it seems to turn in circles. “There’s a time for everything” he writes, “a season for every purpose under heaven.
Including seasons of waiting. Including seasons of return.

One reason I chose to write #TurningofDays along the meteorological seasons was to remind myself that life turns. It doesn’t race forward. It doesn’t move in a line. It turns. And sometimes those turns can feel like we’re going in the wrong direction.

But just as the earth rotates on its axis & just as it orbits the sun, God has designed our days to cycle, too. This makes sense when you remember that God is a God outside of time.

It makes sense when you remember that “he has put eternity in [our] hearts.” It makes sense when you remember that we were made to revolve around him.

I don’t know what your last year has been like, but if it’s been like mine, you’re probably wrestling w/ feeling stuck, the future uncertain & unclear.

But if it’s been like mine, you also know that God has been faithful even in the moments of waiting. You know that he’s brought good things to sustain us along the way. You know that he’s present in our ever turning days.
