my grandpa invented the compound that allowed safety glass to shatter in bits instead of shards. he worked for monsanto and never saw an extra dime from it, but saved a lot of lives
ok i researched this, laminated safety glass was invented c. 1910, but my grandpa's improved formulation involved a "High Penetration Resistant" plasticized polyvinyl acetal interlayer c. 1965, 2 ys before US govt required laminated windshields in all cars. still pretty cool.
honestly getting myself to go running is often the hardest part of running besides running, which is also hard
ok but I RAN FIVE MILES who cares if it was in intervals!!!!!! there is a cool breeze, it's below 50% humidity and it just feels like running at an easier setting!!!!!
(60 minutes running in 12 minute intervals, plus 10 min of walking intervals scattered between, plus a 5 min warm up and 5 min cool down walk - 80 minutes of moving!!!)
today i did my first ever trail run - a 50 minute interval workout + 10 min walking, in a dense wood trail.
i am an idiot, so:
-i ran past the point where i had chills, chest pain and dizziness
-ran at noon in 81 degrees/64% humidity
-almost passed out
-do NOT do this
what i did right:
-ran with my parents who are incredible runners & triathletes
-made them swear a blood oath not to leave me in the woods
-kept repeating that my vengeful ghost would haunt them if they left me to die
-gave the finger to the sun for like 10 min
anyway im fine now after dumping ice water on my head and drinking more ice water
i am watching the last dance not knowing a blessed thing about basketball and its still good
michael jordan comes across as a fascinating and somewhat terrifying human being
like im not saying i had a prolonged date with a man this weekend but i watched space jam and then 9 episodes of a basketball documentary and even tried to figure out what a bracket is. the lists of love are wearying endeavors
