Thread: Israeli forces killed 16-year-old Palestinian teenager Said Yousef Mohammad Odeh on May 5, 2021. Now, his family, friends, and community are reflecting on Said's life.
His mother asks, "What did he do to justify his killing? He was just 16 years old."
Said's cousin, Munther, was shot in the back by Israeli soldiers while trying to carry Said to safety.
"We were standing here, and suddenly, the army came out from under the olive trees."
Israeli forces blocked paramedics from accessing Said after he was shot. The paramedic who finally reached him, Faiz, was surprised to see the person lying on the ground was his nephew, Said.
Said's father said he and his wife broke down crying in the hospital when they realized Said had been killed.
Khaled, Said's friend and football teammate, misses his friend every day and wears a necklace in his honor that says, "My life is dark without you."
Khaled stopped playing football after Said's killing until Said's mother called him and urged him to continue.
No one has been held accountable for Said's killing. Israeli forces are rarely held accountable for grave violations against Palestinian children, including unlawful killings and excessive use of force. dci-palestine.org/israeli_forces…

BREAKING: Israeli forces raided our main office in Al-Bireh today around 5 a.m., confiscating computers, laptops, and files concerning our Palestinian child detainee clients in the Israeli military courts. We were not informed of the reason for the raid.
This is the latest act by Israeli authorities to increasingly push forward a campaign to delegitimize and criminalize Palestinian civil society and human rights organizations like @DCIPalestine.
We carry out our work in a situation of armed conflict where perpetrators of war crimes and crimes
against humanity enjoy systemic impunity and Israeli forces refuse to end serious breaches
of international law or hold perpetrators accountable.
Director of @DCIPalestine's accountability program, Ayed Abu Eqtaish, is live on @AJEnglish sharing the latest updates on Palestinian children. #GazaUnderAttack
@AJEnglish "It's important to remind people that Palestinian children are children. They're not just numbers," said Ayed. Many of the children killed in Gaza were killed playing outside their homes. #GazaUnderAttack
"Some children are still missing" after Israeli airstrikes, Ayed explains. The death toll of Palestinian children in Gaza is expected to rise. #GazaUnderAttack
We have confirmed nine Palestinian children were killed yesterday in the Gaza Strip following an escalation of violence between Israeli forces and Palestinian armed groups during the late afternoon.
An Israeli drone-fired missile killed 15-year-old Mohammad Saber Ibrahim Suleiman shortly after 6 p.m. while he and his father Saber Ibrahim Mahmoud Suleiman were on their agricultural land outside the city of Jabalia.
In a second incident around 6:05 p.m., a homemade rocket fired by a Palestinian armed group fell short and killed eight Palestinians, including two children. The rocket landed in Saleh Dardouna Street near Al-Omari Mosque in Jabalia, according to evidence collected by DCIP.
