Both Donnie McCaghren, project manager at NASA’s Marshall Spaceflight Center in Huntsville, Alabama, and Michael Salopek of Johnson, co-investigator discussing the experiment.
Q: On Materials were tested on-orbit or on the ground? about 15 new materials tested on the ground, materlas a stronger thermally stable and better to absorb CO2
Do plan on running this side by side the legacy systems, they will remain installed, As far as demo period will be 1 year will be taking multiple CO2 samples then will stay on board 3 more years.
Using this system beyond LEO A: We took a novel approach to remove the valves, cleaning them, and putting them back. Same with the filters, would have to remove and discard the filter, now its removal cleaning it and re-installing it.
The system is evolutionary, we do anticipate using less power, the whole system is leading what we do with exploration.
