Morrison is giving a stump speech.
he fondly lingers long on the 30,000 dead Australians of his imagination.
He repeats his lives and livelihoods slogan that is obviously polling well, presumably because the March 2020 measures polled well.
the actual prime minister thanks an army general for “taking over my job of whole of government” pandemic response. Unusually honest, for Morrison, who is a compulsive liar.
we are back to slide shows, also revived from March 2020.
unless I missed something, the slide of the “plan” he released on 1 July is said to be of a “plan” he released last Friday. Idk who this woman is but any health professional who opts into Scott Morrison’s re-election plan is a disgrace to their field.
someone please count how many times our bogan in chief said Australia and Australian in this mornings campaign speech. He also plagiarised the Bob Hawke line about faith in the strayan people mate. Being a man of no imagination nor leadership qualities and all.
bushfire metaphor. Drink.
lmao Morrison interrupts the slide show to compare hypothetical future (as opposed to past hypothetical) deaths to the flu. Important public health* message there amirite.
nobody could possibly be taking in this information. There was no notice that Morrison was going to host a health statistics slide show with military optics this morning. It has exactly zero public health utility. None.
we are moving into the boomer pitch. He needs the wealthy shareholder base to hold the line, despite his abject neglect of them and their older siblings/parents in those outsourced, Commonwealth-funded for-profit aged care horror shows.
hypothetical pfizer feasibility strategy omfg this is straight up where the bloody hell are ya mate Morrison campaign comms.
Frydenberg is up. Has this whole circus really been rolled out with an hours notice to the national media? On a Tuesday lunchtime? There is simply no way the purpose is public health information. Look at it.
heh. Frydenberg has been given the job of using fabricated future economic figures to reconcile all the jumbly stumbly vaccine-vs-lockdown-vs-vaccine-vs-lockdown comms fuckups, which he has been swinging between since the day Berejiklian finally yielded to reality.
“the most recent Sydney outbreak”. He is definitely framing this re-election campaign speech to fit the last time he was riding high in the polls - the closed borders, nationwide lockdown, and big spending 2020 autumn/winter.
clearly we are on mummy track comms this fine Tuesday and the General is there strictly for campaign optics. Polling badly with the womenz mate. No doubt he will swap back to daddy track paternalism and scare tactics later in the week.
“as General Frewen has said to me” lol my daddy is a policeman.
the CMO confirms that “we” have a national strategy of suppression with zero community transmission. Berejiklian is chucked busward. NSW capacity must be pretty dire.
watching all these white Gen-X non-politicians apparently willingly shoring up Scott Morrison’s political fortunes is very fucking telling. What a shitshow.
now he is saying that General Frewen disagrees with an ALP policy proposal. Yes, yes he is.
Morrison is wrapping up with an emotional attack on the federal ALP, using off the scale argumentum ad passiones and pretending to care about Indigenous communities.
The press gallery will absolutely love these lies. They will fall over themselves with breathless admiration.
calls managing public health risks “common sense” which is presumably why he has lined up two health professors to back in this campaign set piece. Then he cites John Howard.
finally. Morrison signed out with one of his freshly minted lympics campaign slogans and the ABC host went straight to covering his political attack on a minor opposition policy proposal. Did not even draw breath.

up to 111 cases were infectious in the community. Berejiklian calls this 50, and repeats - as she does every day - that the lower, political comms number is the one she is focused on, because freedom.
correction, up to 129 were infectious in the community. Only 70 of the 199 were isolated for the full infectious period.
it does concern her, says Berejiklian, that 50 people were infectious in the community. She repeats this artificially understated number, and her focus on it. Sounds like the NSW cabinet raked over the decision to broadcast this misleading-at-best figure at length.

a year ago I published a blog titled “If there is a Morrison doctrine, it is mission creep” covering all this (and more, like militarisation of his acknowledgement of country). Good to see the mainstream starting to catch on.

gonna go out on a limb and guess the SMH oped author writing his analysis of the obvious a full year later is a white male on a secure income. But the bigger issue is how much more evidence there is that ADF personnel should not be anywhere near Arab and Afghan communities.
the ADF are not excellent in the “military art”. Summary executions by ADF elites are so grotesque that the otherwise most violent outfit on earth - US Marines - were disturbed by our blokes.

good morning from unceded Darug lands☀️today on #Insiders are ABC Indigenous Affairs editor Bridget Brennan, ABC western Sydney reporter Kathleen Calderwood, 9fax international editor Peter Hartcher and podcaster Mark Kenny.
The interview is with NSW health minister Brad Hazzard.
opening spiel is Sydney struggles, QLD snap lockdowns, and the twelveteenth announcement that political “leaders” have a plan. #Insiders
montage is Premiers plus the PM on various lockdowns and the latest iteration of Morrison’s lockdown-vaccine-vaccine-lockdown blame-shifting rhetoric. Leaders bickering over credit for the federal disaster payment. Soundtrack is the Police (King of Pain) #Insiders

maxines. He knows not what he says.
he is making it up as he goes along because he has not got an answer to the question because it is based on an announcement, not an actual public health policy.
ADF are not sworn law enforcement officers in NSW. They are under the command of Mick Fuller. The ADF did many tasks in Vittoria last year. He is “very pleased that the request has finally been made of the NSW government”.

Police, government, army, what’s the difference right.

ABC radio reporting that NSW police have requested ADF onto the streets of Sydney. The police.
it was Morrison mate Fuller of course. The actual claim is that NSW Police Commissioner made a “formal request” for ADF support. On whose authority this formality was created they do not say.
there it is. Fuller, who is not the executive head of NSW - Elliot is his boss and Berejiklian is his boss - called Morrison, who is not the executive head of the ADF - the GG is their boss. Image
