At 3:20 mark, Carlson plants a subtle/implicit "seed" where he associates the protection/safety of "families" w/Hungarian Right Wing Authoritarianism. This resonates with "Authoritarian Followers", & may be an attempt to groom his "base"/viewers with his version of "I alone....1/
....can fix this", because if he can normalize/valorize Right Wing Authoritarianism abroad, it carries more appeal here. 2/
The Hungary trip (aside from potentially being a reason/retroactive justification if/when he was caught speaking w/foreign enemies) is especially interesting when viewed through the lens of Carlson criticizing the GOP for not being Authoritarian enough. 3/
This is also consistent with Carlson's projection about the Left...

And it is also consistent with Carlson's seed planting and normalization of Authoritarianism,....5/

Carlson's "authoritarian follower" viewers are not only very receptive to this message, but by framing the message/movement/fight in binary terms, Carlson is able to trigger their "binary orientation"....6/

This brings to mind the rhetoric of the Bush 43 presidency:

"They hate us because of our freedom"

This probably exists an entirely different level as tens of millions of Americans refuse a live saving vaccine that much of the rest of the world doesn't have access to.

We are not hated because of our freedom.....but to the extent that we are "hated", it's because we are a country of decadence, arrogance, and ignorance:

Interesting analysis of “mobbing phenomenon”, with parallels drawn to American politics.

It brings to mind the dangerous interplay between "authoritarian followers” and “vertically power-structured” institutions that exist within a “horizontally power-structured” democracy...1/
According to Altemeyer’s research, 20-30% of a population will have an authoritarian personality.

Authoritarian personalities are drawn to “vertical power structures”….which are a strict hierarchical structure where power emanates from the top-down. 2/ theauthoritarians.org

The other aspect (thread) is that the Right appeals to more primitive regions in the brain (amygdala/emotion/fear), which causes impulsive/instinctive reactions.....whereas the Left appeal to the cerebral cortex (policy/logic)....which is less motivating.
