#Trivia... There are 205 countries at #TokyoOlympics .. which includes "Olympic Refugee Team" (Must be a group of refugees with no country)... India is currently 65 in the medals list... out of 81 countries that have won a medal...
#Trivia... There are 11 languages used in #TokyoOlympics Jap, English, French, Spanish, Italian, Arabic, Korean, Portuguese, German, Russian & Chinese.. No Indian language is used... but there are 100 interpreters for all world languages in service at the games..
#Trivia The chief interpreter at #TokyoOlympics is Alexandre Ponomarev... He speaks> Russian, Ukranian, English, German, Spanish, French & Danish. And gets by in Swedish, Portuguese, Italian & Norwegian.. Why Urdu not included @NarendraModi?
Modi Govt spent over 1300 crores promoting Urdu in India... but serious lapse in not promoting it with organisers of #Tokyo2020....

1/4... Last night... foolish Arnab @Republic was abusing Cricket because it got all the attention and all the money.... such brainless hatred and anger is uncalled for just because hockey & other games languished... Look at cricket history...
2/4... Cricket has been promoted heavily by the British and the Indian politicians and ordinary people... Even MPs... including Grand Pappu, played friendly matches with MP teams quite frequently... This is what was fed to people... @ggiittiikkaa
3/4...Till the 1971 victories over England-WI... Cricket didnt pay well.. Max some players got was 5000... players like Gavaskar rebelled.. Most players like Wadekar, Vishwanath, Bedi, Solkar worked with SBI for a living.. Cricket didnt help a living..

Claudio Flores of Ecuador finished the #50km #Walking race last... at over one hour behind the winner from Poland (Dawid Tomala)... but the crowd on the footpaths waited patiently for him to cheer him right till the end.. Kudos... #Olympics
1/2... I have said before... Indian climates are not friendly for "Endurance Sports".... Gurpreet Singh failed to finish the #50Km #Walking and suffered cramps very early on.. When will @WeAreTeamIndia & GOI realise this?
2/2.. Govt & IOA should not invest in promotion of #Walking or #Marathons It has nothing in store for Indians.. If some athlete wants.. let it be personally/privately funded effort.. not state funds.. #GurpreetSingh #Olympics @WeAreTeamIndia @ianuragthakur

How pathetic India has been in Olympics & sports in general can be measured by a small comparison... Total Olympic medals - India 33, New Zealand 136, Belgium 152, Kenya 85, Ethiopia 57... The result of religion-caste politics & financial corruption
Its too late with our history of Commie policies by all govts (including extreme Commie Modi) .. but if govt just provides funding of infra, gets rid of sports ministry & creates a massive plan for corporate sports management ... nothing will change..
The so-called "Khelo India" nonsense of Modi is managed by who?.. Sports ministry... and two gasoles ... One is an IRS guy... and the other is a Sr. Statistician in the govt... Hahhaaa.. These guys are going to overhaul sports performance in India?... @sri9011

San Marino has a population of 33600... #Olympics #Wrestling...
San Marino has 1 silver and 2 bronze medals now... so for every 11200 of their population they have one medal.... Hahaha... #Olympics... India so far has a medal for every 27.6cr ...

Why only Congress?... 1996, 2000 and 2016 was not Congress govt...
All this self-consolatory stuff means nothing... If India didnt qualify for Olympics.. then thats worse than not being in SF... In any case.. they didnt win anything at the Olympics if thats the issue.. and sports failure is not unique to Cong govts..
And all this hockey and other games noise for what?... India won some 6 medals in 2012 and 2 in 2016... As a medal-starved nation.. the media is calling Hockey Bronze as "Champions of the world".... Hahaha.. @sri9011

There are some who have no chance of a medal.. Some, even if they are in the top 20 scores of past Olympics, can be given a chance... All said & done.. The total expense on an Olympic trip for the whole contingent is not a big deal (Rio was just 37 crs).
I dont think the money should bother us... What should indeed bother us.. is that we should produce 500 athletes & sports should be as lucrative a career as middle level film actor... or an top company executive.. Sports can become a big industry @sri9011
Federer's prize money from Tennis is 130mn.. after taxes & expenses... that would become a net of around 60mn... but his endorsement & appearance earnings are phenomenal... He is now 1 billion in earnings...Sania is 8mn, Paes is 6mn... People dont make that in a govt job @sri9011
