Every part of this seems insane. Not just that there will be no vax mandate for SFUSD staff but that they’re not really doing any social distancing or remote learning.
Here’s the full story on SFUSD not making teachers and staff get vaccinated, but no testing regimen for them, for students. Seems like they’re operating off a pre-Delta state of play sfchronicle.com/bayarea/articl…
Which would be absolutely par for the course for the SFUSD
Good, but every two weeks might as well be every two years, with the speed that this is ripping through communities. Reminder that NO kids under 12 can get currently get vaccinated
1/ As someone dealing with a breakthrough infection, maybe my experience will help you process risk and encourage you to vaccinate if you haven't, and mask up regardless when around the unvaxxed, esp if they're in high density/close proximity:
2/ So my ex and our son went to a long-planned family reunion in, alas, Florida, where all family members were vaxxed but two, one of whom is a doctor (🤬🤬🤬).
3/ As Delta started to surge, both Florida and the unvaxxed relatives—which learned about a week out—was concerning, to stay the least. The compromise we arrived at: no indoor events, masks in any outdoor crows, testing before they came to meet me in CT.
Anyone else currently quarantining with their vaxxed ex who got a breakthru case in Fla before handing off vaxxed kid (so far -) and all had to flee a friend reunion b/c of (esp) an immune comped little kid and now is in a friend of friend/HERO's apt in old Bklyn hood?
Just me?
So far the only upside, aside from great friends who put this escape plan all together is i STILL know what to order from my fave restaurants in Fort Greene
Folks who've had to quarantine, esp not in their own house: what should I be ordering for health and/or sanity?
2/ Next, @aeconwright compares the critical race theory moral panic (largely created and pushed by Fox News) to the brutal fight to quash abolitionist writings: motherjones.com/politics/2021/…
Clearing out my dad’s house and I now have a ton of photos by which to prod various generations of @Harpers editors and interns, starting with my own intern cohort
This was when novelty Chia Pets first took “off”
Sure, now he’s a fancy pants political editor at NBC but back then @mmurraypolitics was just East Village dart board Jesus
My dad save an entire, substantial, file folder of letters written to him and @NatGeo protesting the inclusion of photos of nudes that ran with his article on…the Sistine Chapel
Having spent an unpaid summer internship working in the @NatGeo Research Correspondent department, I can confirm that most correspondence was about cranky letters from old people and school kids asking about banana slug penises. But this paper CC trail!
