The population of Onslow County is ~200,000, and only 38% are fully vaccinated. This news should be surprising to no one.
Over the past two days, two people I personally know (one vaccinated; one unvaccinated) have tested positive and are symptomatic, and my wife knows the spouse of one of Onslow Memorial’s 25 COVID patients. The Delta variant does not mess around.
There are a lot of factors (and factions) working against an effective pandemic defense for North Carolinians. One of those factors is our Lieutenant Governor.
With an anti-vax Lt. Governor, an anti-mask U.S. Representative, a 38% fully vaccinated number, a hospital nearing capacity, and a “personal choice” mask policy for school kids mandated by our all-Republican board of education—the situation appears to be looking pretty grim here.

I recognize three Onslow County Board of Education members, none of whom are wearing masks. This aligns with the “masks are a personal choice” policy they’ve mandated at all county schools for the upcoming school year.

Here’s Wyoming’s statutory definition of sexual abuse of a minor in the second degree. Wyoming has no statute of limitations for this crime.
A person convicted under this subsection is subject to imprisonment for not more than 20 years.
“Being seventeen (17) years of age or older, the actor inflicts sexual intrusion on a victim who is thirteen (13) through fifteen (15) years of age, and the victim is at least four (4) years younger than the actor;”
Anthony Bouchard admitted he was 18, and his victim was 14.
The penalty.
(W.S. 6-2-306(e) prescribes life without parole if an “actor” has one or more previous conviction.)

The text of the wrongful death lawsuit filed against the Durham County, NC Sheriff isn’t available, but the allegations are narrow and disturbing.
Which Republican official, elected by over 2.8 million voters, posted the meme below that conflates the removal of confederate monuments with abortion?
A short thread on willfully ignorant voters.

Hint: He’s the same elected official who posted this:
