🧵GA @GaSecofState and Fulton GOP leaders want to take over Fulton Cty. Elections. This is a very dangerous idea for every GA voter and candidate, regardless of party.
This thread will explain the dishonest claims that SOS and RNC are making in court defending takeovers. 1/
2/ These excerpts are from brief we @CoalitionGoodGv filed last night as part of fighting SB202, including the takeover provisions.
RNC has intervened and defends the takeover w/ SOS.
We show their dishonesty and outrageous claims.
Link to full brief at end.
3/ RNC claims that there are 7 "protections" of the board (but they do not exist.) In fact the facts are the opposite of what RNC claims:
4/ These arguments relate to whether under SB202 the county board members ("superintendent") being removed by the St. Bd are given Due Process as US Constitutional demands.
5/ The answer of course is NO, but notice how the RNC tries to tell the Court something different.
The full board can be fired even if they were not on board when rule violations occurred.
The St. Bd can fast track the removal and not do performance review.
6/ There is no requirement for the individual board member to even get a notice of the hearing where he might be removed, or even have the chance to defend himself.
7/ For counties like Chatham Co. (+ about 40 small counties) with a Bd of Registration (charged with voter reg. & absentee balloting), St. Board can fire registrar based on violations of the "superintendent" --an unrelated entity.
And then registrar's office stays vacant!
8/ They don't even promise not to do such an egregious thing
9/ They even say it's good policy that is justified!
10/ What happens if citizens push back on the SOS?
Four of our 14 plaintiffs are now under investigation by SOS. Just coincidence or retribution?
11/ When @dufort_jeanne discovered the errors in the ballot scanners that were not counting all the votes and stood up publicly to the SOS, it was just a matter of time before she would become the target.
We are fighting hard against several more unconstitutional provisions of SB202 as well. ⬇️⬇️
13/ We are basically the only group challenging these dangerous provisions of takeover and shutdown of transparency.
Please help our very small org. taking on the big guys! bit.ly/CGGDonate
14/ To show you how outrageous the retaliation is, check out the video that Plaintiff Antwan Lang is under investigation for! Anyone see any criminal violation here? Ridiculous! facebook.com/antwan.lang/vi…

Today! Fulton and DeKalb (likely other) Election Boards meet. Will they discuss this looming dark cloud over the Nov. elections or hide their heads in sand and just trust SOS to deal with this danger to upcoming elections?
And there's a new serious danger as of yesterday...1/
2/ Dominion server with the entire election management system software for Mesa Co. CO was reportedly imaged and then released at the Lindell event in SD yesterday. Posted to internet. Thousands of people have copies, making the system extremely vulnerable to attack.
3/ It is urgent that counties and SOS address this serious loss of control, making an already highly vulnerable BMD system exponentially more vulnerable for ALL types of voting, including hand marked ballots.
🧵Whether you defend the GA 2020 election results or challenge them, we @CoalitionGoodGv kindly ask that you consider the controversy that would exist if the paperless touchscreen system had remained in use!
In 2019 we won the lawsuit to put an end to them in GA!
2/ We funded it with patient attorneys and vendors and thousands of hours of volunteer time. But @CoalitionGoodGv + Curling plaintiffs made it happen!! (Our attorneys still await a fee award.)
3/ But the BMD paper records are not nearly good enough to be used in a public election! We continue the same Curling lawsuit, now against the DRE's evil twin, the BMDs. apnews.com/article/electi…
GA voters--Can anyone name even one GA official or political leader who bothered to speak up and ask for secure city elections in November after they received this serious warning about dangerous vulnerabilities in the voting system? 1/
2/ The existence of @jhalderm' s report has been known since 7/1/21. Controversy was on the public docket for 2+ weeks. His rebuttal report filed Monday that summarized concerns.
There are easy immediate solutions.
Easy solutions, but seeming lack of interested officials.
3/ So they have gotten their umpteenth increasingly dire warning that this is going to happen with the voting system....
2/ While the detailed report will remain under seal for a while, it's more than clear that state and county officials have the obligation to obtain information about the grave vulnerabilities of the touchscreen system in time to make the right decisions for Nov. muni elections.
3/ I've highlighted important parts of Dr. Halderman's report to call your attention to key points. See first panel of this thread for the link.
For example:
🧵Whether or not you think the "performance review" of Fulton Elections is merited, here's why it is doomed. Only damage will result. I''ll list some reasons A to H on this thread.
A. It's politically driven, not an attempt at getting answers. SOS controls review staff.
2/ B. SEB is to appoint a "Performance Review Bd." ("PRB") in 30 days. First, the GA Senators must correct their request for Fulton review. They requested to review staff, (not permitted by law).
Do they have guts to review GOP members of Fulton Bd? (Only choice permitted.)
3/ PRB can't review staff. Can only review full board. ENTIRE board must be fired en masse if SEB wants to replace management.
C. PRB will be unwieldy. Likely to be 11 members! 2 "local election officials" are appointed. An "official" is full board, not an individual.
Wait a minute!
The lawmakers have no legal right to call for a SB202 performance review of Rick Barron. He is management staff, NOT a board member.
The lawmakers can only seek a performance review of the entire board. This is very much out of bounds going after management!! 1/
2/If anyone wondered whether the lawmakers would overreach in their efforts to intervene in county elections, this is all the proof you need.
Look at what they wrote in the letter, misquoting the law.
The law permits the review of the Fulton Board, not an individual employee.
3/ Whether or not you are a Rick Barron fan, one needs to realize that his employment is a decision to be made by the COUNTY board, NOT by state officials' overreach.
