2/ Production of High Assay Low Enriched #Uranium (HALEU) requires conversion & SWU to first produce 4.95% LEU from natural #U3O8 feed⛏️ which is further enriched to 19.75% for fuel fabrication.🏭⚛️ 9 of 10 #Nuclear SMR's under development in US will require HALEU fuel.😯 2/3

2) First let's make sure we understand the terms used to express #Uranium quantities.🤬 #Nuclear fuel requirements are usually quoted as 'metric tonnes of U' => 'MT U' or 'tU' ⚖️ but miners fill drums of yellow cake🛢️ which is #U3O8 that's not pure U so we must convert.🧮../3
3) TradeTech provides a handy conversion table to convert #Uranium quantities between tU & lbs #U3O8.📊 One tU is contained in 2599.79 lbs of #U3O8, so if a reactor consumes 200 tU per year it needs approx 200x2600 = 520,000 lbs drummed #U3O8 to supply that.🛢️⚛️⛏️ Got it?😀 ../4
