I 100% endorse this point. It is pure tokenism for the media and politicians to acknowledge the climate and ecological crisis for a few hours, a day, at most a few days. Then to forget about, and to move on to relative trivia.

I see the way the media, politicians, vested interests and PR manipulators create bandwagons and whip up public concern and opinion. They hammer away, keeping an issue in the headlines for weeks, months, years. They produce a deluge of stories and headlines.

We never see them do this with the climate and ecological crisis ever. This is why we know they are insincere and disingenuous. Do they think we never notice this? They insult our intelligence. #MindTheGap

It is very much in the manner of religious tokenism. Where people, especially the powerful live amoral lives and pay no heed to the values they espouse. Then with a weekly, brief and very public act of piety, attempt to wipe the slate clean. They they go back to their ways.

No, if the media, politicians and public figures really meant it about the climate crisis, as @GretaThunberg says, there would be little else in the headlines and on the front pages, except the climate crisis.

It's crystal clear why they do this. The last thing on earth the media, politicians and vested interests want is the public demanding the immediate action, the immediate reduction in carbon emissions the scientific evidence indicates is necessary.

It's deeply cynical manipulation of public opinion. It is crystal clear that neither the politicians, the media or vested interests, really mean their token platitudes about the climate crisis. They have no intention of taking the necessary action.
