Not in San Francisco, but in Oslo, Norway... that must be the 'theme song' of Isko Moreno way back in 2016 when he travelled to Europe in his capacity as Manila Vice Mayor.
A lot of questions entered my mind, so I decided to make a little research. Here's what I found out.
The first question is - what was the purpose of his visit to Europe at that time ?
In a news item reported by Rocky Nazareno in the October 2016 issue of the Manila Bulletin, the trip was 'part of his preparations for the May 2016 senatorial race. Former Manila Vice Mayor Isko Moreno sought out
Communist Party of the Philippines founding chairman Jose Ma. Sison “so that he could give me a deeper insight on the real needs of our people."
"Remember that I was a local official then. So when I decided to run for senator, I needed to have inputs on national issues.
That was why I went to consult with Professor Sison,” said Moreno in an interview.
The next question is - was Moreno a part of the peace talks, if yes, what was his role in the peace negotiations?
The same article also revealed that 'according to an NDF source, Moreno travelled to the Netherlands as one of the 'consultants of the NDF' who was in the middle of peace negotiations with the Philippine goverment.
Moreno was tapped for 'his genuine concern for the urban poor from where he came from'.
The third question is - what did Isko Moreno talk about in his one-on-one meetings with Jose Maria Sison,
the chairman and founder of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) and Luis Jalandoni, chairman of the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP)?
The newspaper article also said that his talks with the two top honchos of the communist movement was about “consultations” on national issues that Moreno intended to advocate should he win a Senate seat.
Finally, the last question is - what is now his relationship with Joma Sison and his personal stand on the communist insurgency in the country?
Surprisingly, the question was answered by Sison himself.
Last December 2019, in a teleconference that Sison had with members of the Makabayan Bloc, Sison reminded them “not to attack” Moreno and to support him instead as Sison considers him as their “friend.”
So, there you have it ladies and gentlemen. Pictures don't lie. You be the judge of this man who may be running next year for the highest office of this - our beloved land. 🤔
