Some ideas on support to Afghanistan:
1) Airport security, clear messaging and coordination. Airport needs to be secured, not just for evacuation of foreigners but with a view to medium, long term to also mediate the current rush that is causing suffering, indignity

Messaging and coordination is so important. People at high risk are stuck in Kabul while reports about plane leaving almost empty. Not acceptable. Irresponsible withdrawal is followed by messy evacuation leading to tragedy. The US & others can do better

2) Safe passage to airport. There is no point in having passports and visas if airport in Kabul & other provinces remain inaccessible due to the DW ar from Taliban checkpoints. Clear guarantees needed from Taliban on safe passage of all, including women traveling on their own

3) Activation of visa services, open borders in the region, openness to Afghan refugees. No one wants to be a refugee. In this moment of need for Afghans, we need all including the Muslim world to do more

4)Continued emphasis on human rights, the full range of human rights including protection from torture & inhumane treatment (Reports of TB utilizing punishments like blackening faces, etc), freedom of expression, cultural rights, protection of cultural monuments

5) Continued scrutiny of Taliban on women and girls rights. Full range of women’s legal rights must be upheld & protected. If TB claim this is the case, they can not repress right to work, they should also hold accountable those fighters who violate, suppress women’s human rights
