Waiting to see the cardiologist, and let me tell you there's no more enjoyable way to spend the afternoon than in a waiting room with a bunch of old dudes who are using their phones on speaker to both make calls and watch right wing YouTube
"you may have a leaky heart valve"
This explains why I get out of breath from like... walking and stuff, apparently
More tests in a couple weeks to make sure, and then we decide on the best treatment. Doc is concerned but not super stressed, says we'll get things treated before it becomes a real problem.
I'm gonna lobby for this
Thanks for all the good wishes. I was having a mild freakout, but I really like my cardiologist and he said it's not super uncommon and eminently treatable/fixable. And now we know why I have a heart murmur, so YAY MYSTERY SOLVED
And while I feel ok about everything and am happy it's not more serious, to the one dude who just replied "look at the shit you eat, you're gonna get a massive coronary":
a. this isn't diet-related
b. catch this fucking block, asshole

Fucking Kyle the anti-vaxxer powers down monster energy drinks by the case while rolling coal in his truck on his way to the gym where he roids to the gills, but wants me to address him as "pure blood." "My body is a temple." To what, bitch? The god of high fructose corn syrup?
Halder was a Lost-Causer, too. And, just like in the 19th century, the US government embraced a pernicious myth because it was politically convenient for powerful whites.
Halder's Wikipedia entry actually does a good job detailing his postwar rehabilitation by, among others, the US goddamn army. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Franz_Hal…
Defenders of capitalism never stop talking about how it's "the most efficient way* of distributing needed this, services, and resources across society and that's simply never been true
The point of capitalism is to enrich capitalists. That's no way to sustain a functioning society, and you see that *waves arms wildly* eeeeeverywhereq
And here come the capitalism stans. Like Steinbeck wrote, most Americans don't question the inequalities of capitalism, because they simply see themselves as temporarily embarrassed millionaires
The dilemma of any educational developer:
Them-we would like development opportunities
Me-ok, cool. That's my jam. *creates a year's worth of programming*
Them-*don't attend any programs*
--Time passes--
Them-why aren't you offering development opportunities
Me:
Them: last year was awful I can't think about doing anything else right now there was just so much work
Me: for real. I'm there with you
Them: hey why didn't you do any development workshops last year
Me:
Me: let me know what I can do to support. I can come to dept meetings, connect u with resources, consult, do a workshop, whatevs
Them: *crickets*
Them: *more crickets*
Me: OK, I guess I'll do some talks for these other people who asked me to
Them: why did u abandon us
Me:
By any objective standard, this is sociopathic behavior. But it's treated as a purely political horse race, a simple matter of which party is 'winning', instead of a completely unhinged willingness to literally risk kids' lives to serve GOP dogma.
How big a difference is there, really, between our antimask/antivax Right and the actual practice of human sacrifice?
