Suspect in video says that "only Joe Biden" can detonate the apparent explosive by shooting out his window. Suspect has made multiple threats to blow up the explosive if he is shot at.
"If you shoot me, 2 and a half blocks are going with me. Then you're talking about a revolution. The revolution is on. It's today."
"I told my wife I'd be home by Sunday. I'm looking for all my other patriots to come out and help me, cause I've got it standing, I've got the foundation built people."
"Them snipers come in and they start shooting this windows out, this bomb is going off because it was built by y'alls people, by the people y'all had in the military, y'all were the ones that trained the man to build it."
"You thought the south wasn't coming... well Joe Biden, the south has come. The roads are blocked, and I'm waiting on your phone call."
"If you wanna take me out, take me out, but when the patriots come, your ass is in trouble, five of us are already here, and I'm the little man."
In the video, the suspect appears to be holding some sort of canister. Additionally, he points the camera towards the back of his truck and claims that there's a toolbox full of ammonium nitrate.
Just noticed the boxes in the rear of the truck appear to be coins. Would be shrapnel.
"I don't wanna die Joe, I wanna go home, just like the people in Afghanistan wanna go home, them peoples lives are on your hands, all them dead peoples lives are on your hands."
"Afghanistan I'm standing for you strong too, the mother fucker should have bombed their asses and made sure you were alright before we left. So if they blow me up Afghanistan, I hope somebody takes revenge on that, because I'm a patriot, I love this land."
Image of what the suspect is holding, thanks to phleep on Doge Den for nabbing this screenshot.
Another image of what the man is holding in his lap.
Suspect is Floyd Ray Roseberry of Grover, North Carolina. Floyd was born 11-28-1971. (CBS)
Additional image, shout out @th3j35t3r for capturing this one.
Two images provided to me by @ThomasFogle. Anyone able to give a bit of analysis on the device he appears to be using? 2nd image is a nice close up of it.
@ThomasFogle Seems VERY plausible that he has some sort of piezo sensor, which can be pressed or activated by sound. Liking this suggestion by Alex.
U.S. Capitol police advise the situation is still ongoing.
"YOUR military expertise built this!"
Once again I want to reiterate I'm not entirely sure that this man is a veteran himself, he alluded to having had it built by someone else who could possibly have military experience.
I was reflecting back on this and I suspect that he is referring to other vehicles, not other people. His "And I'm the little one" comment could be him saying that his bomb is the smaller of the group of other trucks he claims to have out.
Floyd claims in his livestream that if he is shot at, the other explosives he claims to have placed, will also go off.
"When you shoot these windows out the revolution is gonna be on even harder! There's gonna be four more going off across this town!"
"I want all these buildings around here evacuated, that way if you do decide to kill someone Joe, it's only me."
Floyd refers to the "little blue light" on the detonator and says that it "works off decimals (presumably meaning to say decibels)" seemingly confirming the suspicion that he has some sort of piezo sensor.
All fine and dandy until the round has to get through the closed window, thus creating a loud noise, thus triggering the explosive.
"Op-ed" style posts on this account will not be a thing for long, don't worry. The past week or so of covering the fall of Afghanistan has been causing a boiling anger within me since then, and these rants are my attempt at venting.
I cannot even begin to imagine the anger and the pain that veterans are feeling right now. I know it can't even come close to how shitty I feel at the moment.
The anger will come and go as the situation in Afghanistan continues to develop, but for those who aren't fans of --
the ranting and the anger, the only thing I can say is that it won't be this way for forever. Right now, this is an outlet, and I think we're all just trying to find ways to cope with the various emotions we're all probably feeling right now.
If I could tell the President one thing right now it'd be that nobody is really upset with the fact that the United States left Afghanistan. I think for the most part, a lot of us had been pushing for it for a while now. It's HOW we left that everyone (rightfully) is upset with.
Whether or not the U.S. should have stayed in #Afghanistan is irrelevant. I think most would agree that we should have left, but I think we would ALL agree that we did it in the worst way possible.
There is no other way to describe this, this was a MASSIVE security failure --
on behalf of the United States. The U.S. fucked it up somewhere along the line. I don't know if we failed in regards to intelligence, that we didn't know the Taliban would make such an aggressive and fast push. Maybe we didn't have the intelligence that the Afghan's wouldn't --
put up a fight in any of the cities conquered by the Taliban.
20+ years, $2 trillion plus spent, an unbelievable number of deaths for not just Americans but others around the world that also served in Afghanistan. It's just sickening, I don't think there's any other word.
Multiple Taliban leaders surrounded by heavily armed guards are now within the Presidential Palace. Appears the Taliban has full control of the Presidential Palace now.
