Interesting note...Michael Rubin hired Josh Luber to run the Fanatics trading card business.
Josh co-founded StockX with Cavs owner Dan Gilbert in 2015, was the CEO until 2019 & stepped down after the company reached a $1 billion valuation.
Trading cards appear to be next.
The other piece of this is equity.
Not only has Fanatics made the NFL & MLB hundreds of millions of dollars on their equity stake in the company, but MLB & MLBPA will also have an equity stake in the new trading cards business.
Incentives have been aligned, again.

Thomas and his family attended the Spanish Grand Prix in 2017, eager to watch his favorite driver Kimi Raikkonen.
The only problem?
Kimi crashed out of the race on the opening lap, and TV cameras picked up an upset young fan — Thomas Danel.
2) After being made aware of the situation, Ferrari tracked down Thomas and his family.
They invited them to join Kimi in the paddock, and tears quickly turned to smiles as Thomas was presented with an autographed team hat by his favorite driver.
"It was great!" Thomas said.
3) Thomas and his family stuck around, celebrating Sebastian Vettel's second-place podium finish with Kimi and the Ferrari team.
