The new Kith x Wilson tennis court in Queens, New York is awesome.

@RonnieFieg and team designed and resurfaced the public court using recycled tennis balls and custom paint.

"Growing up in Queens, I never imagined being in a position to make these types of projects happen."
This is what the court looked like before & after the renovation 🔥 ImageImage
Wild Stat: There are 125 million used tennis balls of non-decomposable rubber in landfills across America.

So Kith & Wilson broke down used tennis balls from the 2020 US Open (also in Queens) to rebuild the court.

Here's what that process looked like.
This is similar to the work @KDTrey5 & @richkleiman have been doing through their "build it and they will ball" initiative.

The art & design is cool but providing underprivileged youth with a top-tier facility is even better.

THREAD: Meet Thomas Danel...

Thomas and his family attended the Spanish Grand Prix in 2017, eager to watch his favorite driver Kimi Raikkonen.

The only problem?

Kimi crashed out of the race on the opening lap, and TV cameras picked up an upset young fan — Thomas Danel.
2) After being made aware of the situation, Ferrari tracked down Thomas and his family.

They invited them to join Kimi in the paddock, and tears quickly turned to smiles as Thomas was presented with an autographed team hat by his favorite driver.

"It was great!" Thomas said.
3) Thomas and his family stuck around, celebrating Sebastian Vettel's second-place podium finish with Kimi and the Ferrari team.

But that's not even the best part...

Environmentalists tried to stop the Dutch GP from coming to Zandvoort for years.

They said that the event would endanger Zandvoort's dune reserve & counter its effort to fight climate change.

Here's a short thread on how event organizers made sure that wouldn't happen 👇 Image
1. This is how the Belgian GP ended last week.

Drivers completed just 2 laps with rain ruining most of the day, but fans at home were appalled at the amount of trash left behind by spectators.

Track employees spent hours in the rain picking it all up.
2. To avoid this in Zandvoort, they instituted a unique incentive-based plan to combat littering.

Here's how it worked...

This photo of Alex Honnold free soloing a 3,000-foot route on El Capitan in less than 4 hours with nothing more than a chalk bag is absolutely insane.

MLB ended its 70-year relationship with Topps yesterday, awarding the next trading card deal to Fanatics.

Topps was allowed to match the deal, but with Fanatics worth 14x more, they couldn't.

Now, Murdick Capital & Topps have mutually agreed to terminate their SPAC agreement.
Fanatics is on a mission to take over the sports world.

They just raised $325 million at an $18 billion valuation & are reportedly interested in sports betting, trading cards, NFTs, ticketing & media.

Their database of 80M customer accounts (+10m annually) will certainly help.
I wrote some thoughts on the sports betting piece earlier this week: huddleup.substack.com/p/the-newest-s…

Milwaukee Bucks Valuation

2013: $312 Million
2021: $1.86 Billion

Why 2013?

That's when they drafted Giannis Antetokounmpo.
All NBA teams have increased in value during that time period, but the Bucks have clearly outperformed others.

2013-2021 Valuation
Avg. NBA team: +330%
Milwaukee Bucks: +500%

Combination of factors, but Giannis is certainly one.
From an attendance perspective, the Milwaukee Bucks have seen an increase since Giannis joined the team.

Avg Attendance:
2013: 13,487
2019: 17,602

The Bucks had 36 sellout games in 2019 (most all-time), and TV ratings were up 32%.

Without Giannis, that doesn’t happen.
