#UPDATE: @ABQPoliceChief Harold Medina says an officer shot an armed carjacking suspect earlier today near Broadway and Gibson.
Medina says officers were trying to take the suspect in on a parole violation - because he is believed to be involved in an ABQ homicide last month.
When officers approached him, he reportedly ran and tried to carjack a nearby driver by pointing a rifle at the driver.
That driver says at that point he/she heard gunshots and the suspect dropped to the ground. He is being treated at a local hospital.
.@ABQPoliceChief Medina says the rifle used in this incident matches the rifle used in the homicide last month in which this suspect is believed to be connected. @cgolightlyKOB will have a full update on @KOB4 at 6.

Medina: 1 officer in critical condition; 1 officer just went through surgery; 2 other officers sustained injuries but no idea of what long term consequences they could be dealing with
