It's created by @ponderware and the cats got rescued from the moon in 2017 to its rediscovery in 2021.

The developer @ponderware saw his dream becoming reality in 2021 and he came back from the ashes.
In a short amount of time he build mooncat.community on which you can acclimate your MoonCats to make them part of @opensea. It also enables the option for accessories.

So let's discuss the rarities people look at. The first one is the cats that are minted in 2017. People tend to like them for historical value which makes sense because of the origin year being 2017.

The next rarity people tend to look at is Mooncats that got rescued in 2018, 2019 and 2020.
The floors respectively are:
2018 - 1 $ETH (2,319 total)
2019 - 3 $ETH (71 total)
2020 - 250 $ETH (3 total) we didn't see a sale so far

Next up is the 2021 Mooncats, they are the cats that brought back this project to life in early 2021. They can be seen as the floor cats for the project.
Right now the floor for Mooncats is around 0,49 $ETH. Funny thing @elonmusk is one of them!

- Rankings like top 100 (floor 17,77 $ETH ) and top 1000 (floor 2,6 $ETH)

And last but certainly not least, the holy grail of @mooncatrescue the Genesis cats!
Only 96 of them. The 96 are divided into Pure Genesis (24) and spotted Genesis (72).

Recent month a few nice buys have been made on the Genesis market. I bought #87 a Pure Genesis for 69 $ETH and @Pentosh1 bought #90 a Spotted Genesis for 70 $ETH
Both are part of 16 Genesis cats under #100 mint, so that gives them even extra value.

At the moment of writing things are starting to pick up, the community is growing, the sales are there, the only thing that is lacking is the bigger whales in crypto.
To me this makes the project still very undervalued and there is lots to win still.

A little tip to the bigger guys like @zhusu and so on. Have a look at the Genesis Mooncats (Pure is rarest) and focus on the top #100 mints.
Both have nice entry points and you are still very early.
