Elections of Awadh Bar Association To Be Held on 25 September as Per Directions of #AllahabadHC

Today, the court delivered its Judgment in the suo motu case relating to Election of Awad Bar Association framing guidelines for conducting the election.

The bench of Justice Ritu Raj Awasthi and Justice Dinesh Kumar Singh pronounced the judgment in an open court.

Directions:

1. Only the regular practitioner of High Court at Lucknow and member of Awadh Bar to be allowed in the election. Regular practitioner means advocate must have filed 20 cases in a year.

2. One must have valid certificate of practice, having normal place of practice at Allahabad HC Lucknow.

3. Registered on Advocate on Roll of HC

4. Dues of Awadh bar association must be cleared.

5. Any member of Awadh Bar Association who has contested the election of any other bar since 2018 shall not be eligible to contest the election.

6. On the principle of one bar one vote, the executive committee of any other bat shall not be entitled to cast vote.

7. The RO should open counters near election place for verifying credentials of voters.

8. Voter list shall be published within one week and published on website of Awadh Bar.

9. The schedule of election shall be notified on website of bar and voters shall be notified about same through whatsapp or sms.

10. The election shall be held on 25 September and counting shall be held on 26.

11. All other bar associations of different tribunal and subordinate courts shall publish the list of members on their respective website.

12. Distribution of visiting cards, lunch packets, holding parties for canvassing shall be prohibited and such contestants shall be barred from election.

The court had taken suo motu cognizance of chaos created in the election of Governing Body of the Awadh Bar Association, held on 14 Aug

Ultimately,Shri V.K. Sahi, Returning Officer of the Election, issued a notice cancellation the election held held on 14 August 2021.
