My Afghan friend, wife and 4 kids are trapped in Kabul, Afghanistan. He fled Herat after being targeted. He worked for NATO at Camp Arena. His father was an ANP Colonel murdered by Taliban, his brother, murdered.
The only option left is to pay $20k to get them out. FUCK
I might add I'm not advocating paying. I'm just pointing out it's the option I'm left with, otherwise they remain stranded on waste ground near Kabul Airport.
What do I do? 4 Young kids. I can't get 20k in no time.
UPDATE- Someone on here from the US State Department reached out and tool my friends details and has passed them up the chain.
As he's already been vetted this year by NATO, this helped.
Sometimes I hate twitter, but other times I LOVE IT
It's a small victory, but I'll take it
I'm emotionally exhausted & mentally drained.
Reporting on this crisis has been the most difficult thing I've done. I've felt helpless not being there.
Witnessed the best & worst in humanity and it's not over yet.
Come the 31st, we must not stop fighting for Afghans.
My friend was outside Kabul Airport awaiting news from the U.S. State Department on his evacuation.
He was close to the blast, but was saved by not being in the sewage canal at the time. Says chaos is increasing.
As U.S. are no longer taking in non US citizens into the airport. I'm back to pleading with other foreign ministries to help my friend whilst he awaits treatment at a Kabul Hospital.
With so many leaving today, options are limited. I will find them a route come what may.

1/🇬🇧 The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation #JCVO has decided to invite another 200,000 12 to 15-year-olds with underlying health problems for Covid vaccines.
However, has stopped short of extending it to all teenagers.
2/ Instead, health ministers from all 4 devolved Parliaments in the UK will ask their Chief Medical Officers (CMOs) to decide. They will consider the impact on education which the JCVI did not.
3/ This means that approximately 350,000 12 to 15-year-olds with underlying health conditions will now be eligible for vaccination.
The JCVI experts did say the benefits to children do "marginally outweigh the risks" but that stopped short of recommending universal vaccination.4

1 reason the Met could face action, is as a result of a Supreme Court ruling that said the blocking a public highway is a legitimate form of protest.
An officer in the video arrested 1 protester for Obstruction of a Highway, which a judge advised against independent.co.uk/climate-change…
The Met and CPS have been repeatedly warned by judges that continuing to arrest XR protesters using Obstruction of a Highway, *may result in unlawful arrests.
That would result in legal bills & a squeeze on their already tight budget.
