While I have the time before dinner, gonna do a quick preview of what to expect in the KL City - Terengganu game later tonight!
Now, first of all, KL City is sat right smack in the middle of the table - safe from relegation, but nowhere near the title.
Based on their previous games, I don't expect any dropoff in intensity, but since they officially have nothing left to play for, who knows?
Terengganu will be fighting for runner-ups in the league and look to secure their place in the continental competition.
With Kedah on the 3rd best form in the league right now (surprisingly just behind KL City), Terengganu needs to pick up points here to solidfy their place.
Here's how I think @FCTerengganu can get ahead in the game. 1. We know that KL City unofficially stands for Kounterattack- Laju City. First and foremost, beware of their first phase counterattack. If you can deny them clear cut CA opportunities, you lessen the damage they do.
When they counterattack/have possession, KL City's FBs push up, so there is a chance to let Terengganu's winger's stay high up to create a mismatch against KL City's CBs. Preferably a matchup against the slower footed Giancarlo.
3. Starting out with a high block should force Kevin Ray Mendoza to play it long, then they'll have to work to secure the second ball.
4. Looking to draw fouls could be a good way to get chances in the final third also as KL City are not afraid to tackle hard.
Playing aggressive against Roman Morales to prevent him from bringing down the ball should work wonders to disrupt KL City's direct style of play too.
Finally, if there's no breakthrough in 75 min, patiently wait as KL City will tend to sit back in the last 15 min...
which will concede more chances and allow Terengganu to push up safer.
In a similar fashion, @KLCityFootball should also look to base their counterattacks down the wings as well (if Terengganu plays as usual). The attacking WBs will leave space for Paulo Josue to attack down the wings.
Giancarlo and Irfan Zakaria should also look to play line-breaking passes if possible as Terengganu typically allows opposing CBs to play out and only look to press when the ball gets to the midfield line.
IN possession, try attacking the spaces in between the CBs and the FBs as Terengganu midfielders sometimes miss their covering assignments when the FBs is stretched out wide to close down opposing wingers.
Out of Possession, beware of the movement of wingers when Terengganu's lone striker drops deep to link up play.
Wingers will look to cut inside to chase down through balls played in behind.
KL City's usual middle-to-low block should work well but their wingers need to track Terengganu's overlapping fullbacks.
Contrast to yesterday's Sabah-UITM game, I'm interested to see how this game of very similar styles (counterattacking football, attacking through the wings) plays out. #KLCTRG
My general impression after watching highlights of the 2 games they played so far is that Sarawak Utd is a hardworking team that doesn't take anything for granted.
@HallerSeb@mbatshuayi Immediately in the first highlight, Batshuayi shows his knack for finding space, slipping into the space behind the CB that pushed up to receive the ball and finding the left goal post from the ensuing shot.
In a system built around the striker, Ajax's first highlight had Haller linking up play ala Harry Kane and then just being BIG in front of the 6 yard box.
If only he had connected to the cross, Ajax would've been 1-0 up here.
Interesting game here. Again, the concept of this series is not watching the full game and seeing how much I can guess what actually happened in the full game from analysing the highlights only.
So, Chelsea played with their typical 3-4-3 formation with Mason Mount restored after missing their EPL game this week (which lost me FPL points btw, not salty at all.)
Zenit parked with a BIG 5-4-1 bus on the pitch and surprisingly, was not stopped by any authorities.
First highlight to talk about in the game is obviously Rudiger's marauding run from defence str8 through the Zenit's defence.
Quick Highlights Analysis: Young Boys 2-1 Man Utd #UCL (A Thread)
Starting with the Lineups, I'm not familiar with Young Boys, but follow the EPL.
Why is Pogba not playing on the left wing and VDB in the middle of the park?
Did we forget the 4 assists he managed playing on the left wing on the first day of the EPL that made every fantasy manager to doubt their choice not to pick him? (Not me being salty)
I don't know what goes on in training, but why is Dean Henderson not even getting on the bench for a UCL game? If Tom Heaton is on the bench in such a match and Hendo is not starting, I'd rather Hendo being sold to Sheff Utd in that case, for development's sake.
